Summary: In this study, two microsensors were designed, prepared and used for molecular recognition and simultaneous ultrasensitive determination of three biomarkers in whole blood. Both microsensors exhibited high sensitivities and low limits of quantification. The results obtained using the microsensors showed a strong correlation with the ELISA results, indicating the potential of the microsensors for ultrasensitive assays of the biomarkers in whole blood.

Summary: In this study, a printed electrode was fabricated in a paper substrate using carbon nanotube ink, graphite pencil, and silver nanoparticle ink. The electrode was modified with gold nanoparticles and a molecularly imprinted polymer to detect CA 15-3. The modified electrode showed changes in morphology, and the sensor exhibited reproducibility and specificity for CA 15-3, making it suitable for determination of CA 15-3 in serum samples.

Summary: This study evaluated the diagnostic value of different combinations of five commonly used tumor markers and screened the best combination of tumor markers. The combination of AFP, CA153, and CA199 is recommended for clinical diagnosis of breast cancer, with the optimal combination being AFP + CEA + CA153.

Summary: The most frequently detected tumor in intact bitches is mammary tumors, which is a significant clinical problem worldwide. The heterogeneous morphology of mammary neoplasms in dogs poses a challenge in choosing the most appropriate biomarker for CMT detection. A retrospective analysis was conducted to evaluate canine cancer antigens and miRNA expression profiles as potential biomarkers for detecting different types of mammary tumors in dogs.

Summary: This study presents an innovative methodology combining SPR and electrochemical responses for detecting CA 15-3 cancer biomarker with high sensitivity and selectivity. By utilizing a two-step approach, the detection limit was significantly improved without the need for complex amplification steps. Additionally, the developed eSPR biosensing methodology showed selectivity for CA 15-3 protein and demonstrated clinical applicability in detecting the biomarker in human serum samples.

Summary: Researchers synthesized and characterized an Fe-gallic acid MOF embedded in a CMC polymer thin film, which served as a novel sensor for detecting CA 15-3 in breast cancer patients' sera. The presence of appropriate functional groups allowed interaction between the CA 15-3 and the MOF. The MOF exhibited sensitivity and proved to be a reliable probe for detecting CA 15-3 with a detection limit of 0.01 U mL(-1).

Summary: This study investigated the diagnostic value of five tumor markers in pleural effusions. CEA was found to be the best single marker, followed by CA-15-3 and CYFRA 21-1. By combining cytology and suggested panels of tumor markers, malignant and benign pleural effusions could be accurately diagnosed with an accuracy of about 98%.

Summary: The levels of CA15-3, CEA, and SF were significantly higher in the malignant tumor group compared to the benign tumor group and healthy control group in canine mammary gland tumors. The combined detection of these three biomarkers increased the sensitivity and accuracy but decreased specificity in detecting malignant tumors.

Summary: This study suggests a proof-of-concept of colloidal surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate for rapid selective detection of overexpressed CA 15-3 biomarker in breast cancer serum (BCS) using PEGylated gold nanourchins (GNUs) conjugated with anti-CA 15-3 monoclonal antibody (mAb). UV-vis spectroscopy and SERS were used to study the conformation, composition, and molecular structure of mAb and BCS. The results showed that under the experimental conditions, the heating effect on signal variation is negligible and other parameters may be responsible.
