Summary: This study elucidates the antibacterial role of peroxinectin and its molecular mechanism in Chinese mitten crab. The results show that peroxinectin can bind to different bacteria and eliminate Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Additionally, peroxinectin interacts with integrin and CuZn-SOD to activate related immune genes and elicit immune responses to bacterial infections.

Summary: Chinese mitten crab (E. sinensis) is an important farmed crustacean in China, but farming process may lead to the occurrence of harmful factor, lipopolysaccharide (LPS). This study investigated the correlation between LPS concentrations and hepatopancreas damage in E. sinensis. Results showed that LPS significantly affected immune-related genes and antioxidant enzyme activity, resulting in hepatopancreas damage. These findings provide valuable insights into the mechanism of hepatopancreas injury induced by LPS infection in E. sinensis.

Summary: In this study, the toxic effects of the triazine pesticide prometryn on Eriocheir sinensis were evaluated. The results showed that prometryn can cause damage to the hepatopancreas of E. sinensis through oxidative stress, induction of cell apoptosis, disruption of lipid metabolism, and immune damage.

Summary: The study investigated the role of an MEK homologue gene (EsMEK) in the Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir sinensis. EsMEK was found to be constitutively expressed in all tissues, with higher expression in hepatopancreas, hemocytes, and gills. LPS and Aeromonas hydrophila challenge increased EsMEK mRNA levels in hemocytes, and inhibition of EsMEK led to decreased expression of antimicrobial peptides.

Summary: In this study, the impact of hypoxia on Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir sinensis hemocytes was investigated using iTraq labeling and LC-MS/MS analysis. The results showed significant changes in protein expression, involving various pathways and biological processes. The study also analyzed the increased activity of antioxidant enzymes under hypoxia stress.

Summary: The study showed that Ophiopogon japonicus extract has strong anti-WSSV activity, reducing viral loads and improving survival of crabs challenged with WSSV. It may inhibit WSSV proliferation by repressing the JAK-STAT pathway and modulating immune gene expression. O. japonicus could potentially be developed into a preventive or therapeutic agent against WSSV, with further research needed on its effective compounds.

Summary: The Chinese mitten crab, a commercially valuable crustacean in China, is facing various diseases affecting its production and trading potential. This study reviews the pathogens associated with the crab since the beginning of its commercial culture, with a focus on those initially discovered in other crustacean species. The findings not only provide recommendations for disease management in the Chinese mitten crab aquaculture sector but also have implications for crustacean cultivation in general.

Summary: Hypoxia has irreversible damage on aquatic animals, but there are few reports on the effects of hypoxia stress and reoxygenation on intestinal homeostatic imbalance and consequent hepatopancreas-intestine axis health in crustacean. In this study, Chinese mitten crabs were exposed to hypoxic stress for 96 hours and then reoxygenated for 96 hours. The results showed that hypoxia impaired the intestinal tissue structure, increased oxidative stress, and altered the composition of the gut microbiota.

Summary: This study explored the toxic responses in the hepatopancreas of juvenile E. sinensis exposed to ammonia-N, showing that ammonia stress activated the immune defense system, upregulated detoxification genes, and accelerated glycogen degradation. Additionally, the tricarboxylic acid cycle and amino acid consumption were enhanced for energy supply to cope with ammonia stress.

Summary: Photoperiod plays a vital role in the growth, development, and metabolism of crustaceans. The study revealed that the photoperiod affects the gene expression in the hepatopancreas of Chinese mitten crab, leading to changes in immune mechanisms. High-throughput Illumina sequencing was used to explore the genes associated with immune function, and the results demonstrated the impact of photoperiod on gene expression patterns.

Summary: As a new generation of high-throughput sequencing technology, PacBio Iso-Seq technology provides a better alternative sequencing method for obtaining full-length unigenes. In this study, a comprehensive analysis of the Eriocheir sinensis transcriptome was conducted using Iso-Seq and Illumina RNA-seq analysis. Key genes related to H. eriocheir infection in the intestines of E. sinensis were identified, and important biological pathways such as energy metabolism and innate immune response were revealed. These findings enhance our understanding of the E. sinensis transcriptome and its specific association with H. eriocheir infection.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of acute exposure to 75-nm polystyrene nanoplastics on the immune responses, antioxidant defenses, and gut microbiota of Eriocheir sinensis. After 48 hours of exposure, nanoplastics were found in the gills, hepatopancreas, and gut, but not in the gut after 7 days of recovery. Exposure to nanoplastics altered the expression of immune-related genes and enzyme activities, as well as the diversity of gut microbiota. The hepatopancreas of E. sinensis could not fully recover within a 7-day recovery period.

Summary: This study investigated the response of Eriocheir sinensis during Hepatospora eriocheir infection. The results showed that H. eriocheir infection severely damaged the hepatopancreas tissue of E. sinensis, disrupted lipid metabolism and energy metabolism, and activated immune-related processes. The findings provide valuable insights into the response mechanism of E. sinensis hepatopancreas during H. eriocheir infection.
