Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an SMS text messaging intervention (Text4HeartII) for improving adherence to medication and lifestyle changes in patients with coronary heart disease. Results showed that the intervention did not significantly improve medication adherence or adherence to healthy lifestyle behaviors compared to usual care, suggesting that the benefits of text interventions may vary depending on the context in which they are implemented.

Summary: The use of mHealth apps for self-management of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) is a growing trend in patient-centered care. This research conducts a scoping review of mHealth apps for CVD self-management from 2014 to 2021. The review explores six main aspects, including the types of CVDs managed, app functionalities, disease stages managed, data extraction and analysis approaches, wearable devices used for CVD detection, monitoring, and identification, as well as the challenges and future work in this field. The review is based on the methodological framework by Arksey and O'Malley and follows the PRISMA model for reporting systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The results show that the most common CVDs managed are arrhythmia, heart failure, and coronary heart disease. Most mHealth apps for CVD self-management provide medical recommendations, appointments, reminders, and notifications for monitoring. The main challenges include patient reluctance to use technology and achieving interoperability with other systems.

Summary: Current guidelines on cardiovascular risk management may not be applicable for older adults with dementia, as previous studies have not specifically included this population. Considering the potential risks and benefits, individualized treatment strategies and regular monitoring are necessary in managing cardiovascular risk in older patients with dementia. The focus should be on maintaining quality of life, preventing cognitive and functional deterioration, and promoting independence.

Summary: Studies have shown that learning adaptability is crucial for students to use self-regulated learning effectively, but the specific mechanism behind this relationship is still not clear. This study investigated the mediating roles of academic motivation and self-management in the relationship between learning adaptability and self-regulated learning in 787 junior high school students. The results indicate that learning adaptability positively influences self-regulated learning, and academic motivation and self-management independently and cumulatively mediate this relationship. These findings provide insights into how to support students in coping with educational reform challenges and highlight the importance of learning adaptability for self-regulated learning in junior high school students.

Summary: This study explores the factors influencing engagement with group psychoeducation programs from the perspective of service users and families. The study finds that motivated participants and engaged clinicians, peer co-facilitation and support, and skilled and responsive facilitators enhance engagement. Barriers to engagement include participants' readiness, concerns related to stigma and confidentiality, desire to distance oneself from mental health services, lack of support from families, group discomfort, time and length of the program, transport issues, visibility of the program, and structural supports for clinicians. Therefore, strategies to enhance engagement should take a multipronged approach, including training and mentoring opportunities and addressing readiness and local needs.
