Summary: This review article discusses the effects of space environment on the human vasculature and the adaptive responses activated in such conditions. The study suggests that oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction might be mediators of vascular alterations in space. Understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in these adaptive processes could provide insights for designing proper countermeasures for space exploration.

Summary: Malignant rhabdoid tumor of the kidney (MRTK) has a poor prognosis and is unresponsive to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In this study, BKM120 was identified as a potential therapeutic agent for MRTK by inhibiting the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway to induce cell apoptosis and cycle arrest. Both in vitro and in vivo experiments confirmed the inhibitory effects of BKM120 on MRTK.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that bitter taste receptors play a role in regulating various cellular processes. This study found that the bitter taste receptor activator amarogentin (AMA) can inhibit the proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) by activating the AMPK signaling pathway, thereby attenuating neointimal hyperplasia. This highlights the potential of AMA as a new drug candidate for the treatment of neointimal hyperplasia.
