Summary: In this study, the comparative effectiveness of radical cystectomy (RC) and trimodality therapy (TMT) for muscle-invasive bladder cancer was evaluated using observational data. The results showed no statistically significant difference in overall survival (OS) between RC and TMT. However, when examining heterogeneity of treatment effects, RC appeared to be associated with improved OS only for patients with cT3 disease.

Summary: This study confirmed the predictive and prognostic value of the preoperative modified Glasgow Prognostic Score (mGPS) in patients with UCB undergoing RC, showing its independent risk factor for non-organ confined disease and poor survival outcomes. However, the mGPS demonstrated limited value in enhancing the discriminatory ability of predictive and prognostic models that relied on either pre- or postoperative clinicopathological variables. Further evaluation of the mGPS in the era of immunotherapy is warranted.

Summary: The study aims to evaluate variant histologies (VHs) for disease-specific survival (DSS) in patients with invasive urothelial bladder cancer (BCa) undergoing radical cystectomy (RC). The results showed that compared to pure urothelial carcinoma, clear-cell, plasmacytoid, small-cell, and sarcomatoid VHs were associated with worse DSS, while lymphoepithelioma-like VH showed a DSS benefit. Accurate pathological diagnosis can ensure tailored counselling for patients who require more intensive management.

Summary: In T1N0M0 bladder cancer patients, RC is associated with higher CSS rates in patients with SqCC and neuroendocrine carcinoma compared to other surgical treatments. No difference was observed for adenocarcinoma or other VHBC types.

Summary: This study aimed to identify risk-predictive models for bladder-specific cancer mortality in patients undergoing radical cystectomy and assess their clinical utility and risk of bias. The findings showed that clinical predictors can be used to assess the risk of bladder-specific cancer mortality, but the studies had a high risk of bias and their applicability is uncertain.

Summary: The study found that patients who underwent radical nephroureterectomy for upper urinary tract urothelial cancer after radical cystectomy experienced poor overall survival and cancer-specific survival, with most surgeries being performed for locally advanced tumors. Independent risk factors for worse survival included UTUC T stage, presence of metastasis, and male gender.

Summary: This study established a prognostic model with seven ferroptosis-related genes, which could stratify patients into two groups based on their risk scores. Experimental results showed that the model had achieved a stable performance level and was an independent prognostic predictor for the overall survival (OS) of BLCA patients. Additionally, functional enrichment analysis suggested that differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between high- and low-risk groups played vital roles in the progression of ferroptosis.

Summary: Chemotherapy and immunotherapy have been found to be effective in VH or non-UC bladder cancer treatment. According to the study, the overall response rate for chemotherapy in first-line treatment was 62.2%, while it was 22.2% for immunotherapy. Treatment response varied depending on histological subtypes and treatment types.

Summary: This study examined CD10 immunoexpression in urothelial bladder carcinoma (UBC) and its relationship with clinicopathological parameters. The results showed that CD10 positive expression was associated with higher tumor grade and muscle invasion, but not with patient survival or other clinicopathological parameters. CD10 immunoexpression cannot be used as a biomarker for poor prognosis in UBC.

Summary: By sequencing genes in 15 UTUC patients treated by RNU, it was found that the majority of patients had a clonal relationship between UTUC and subsequent UCB, supporting the idea that UCBs following UTUC surgery are primarily clonally derived recurrences.

Summary: Urachal cancer has comparable prognosis to urothelial bladder cancer, with favorable outcomes in lower stages and worse prognosis in higher stages. Body mass index, diabetes mellitus, pathologic T category, and lymphovascular invasion are predictors of cancer-specific survival for all patients.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the survival outcomes of urachal cancer (UraC) and urothelial bladder cancer (UroBC) and conduct stage-matched analyses. The results showed that although the two groups had similar 5-year recurrence-free survival, cancer-specific survival (CSS), and overall survival, UraC had a better prognosis in lower stages and a worse prognosis in higher stages compared to UroBC. Additionally, body mass index, diabetes mellitus, pathological T category, and lymphovascular invasion were predictors of CSS for all patients.
