Summary: The study found a significant association between plasma lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) levels and markers of vascular stiffening in hypertensive patients. This association may help predict cardiovascular risk and suggests that reducing Lp(a) levels could be beneficial for cardiovascular protection in hypertensive patients.

Summary: Patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases have an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases due to systemic inflammation and the presence of traditional risk factors. The use of traditional cardiovascular screening methods may underestimate the true risk. Arterial stiffness has shown promise as a surrogate marker for cardiovascular risk in rheumatic patients.

Summary: This study synthesized and evaluated scientific evidence on the efficacy of antihypertensive drugs on arterial stiffness in patients with hypertension. The findings suggest that thiazide diuretics, ACE inhibitors, ARBs, and their combinations can effectively reduce pulse wave velocity, while ACE inhibitors and ARBs can reduce augmentation index.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic role of arterial stiffness in heart failure patients. The results showed that arterial stiffness was inversely correlated with patient survival and could serve as a prognostic predictor. This study is important for understanding the pathogenesis and clinical outcome of heart failure patients.

Summary: Atorvastatin may have a potential role in delaying arterial stiffness progression in hemodialysis patients, as it can help maintain stable arterial stiffness parameters while the placebo treatment group showed a significant increase. This suggests that atorvastatin may have a potential role in delaying arterial stiffness progression in hemodialysis patients.

Summary: The prognostic value of arterial stiffness (AS) parameters in predicting all-cause mortality in systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients was investigated. The results showed that AS parameters were not associated with all-cause mortality. Large-scale studies are needed to determine the exact mechanisms of cardiovascular mortality in SSc patients.

Summary: The study revealed significant differences in hemodynamic and arterial stiffness parameters as well as heart rate between pregnant women with hypertension and those without. Arterial function parameters in women with pregnancy-induced hypertension differed long before the onset of high blood pressure, and body mass index had a deleterious effect, especially in pregnant women with hypertension. The assessment of arterial function parameters and BMI is important for predicting future blood pressure values and outcomes during pregnancy.

Summary: This systematic literature review examines the association between alcohol use and arterial stiffness. The results suggest a J-shaped relationship, where light-to-moderate alcohol consumption is associated with lower arterial stiffness values, while high doses of alcohol accelerate arterial aging. Gender and age may also influence this association.

Summary: Arterial stiffness is an early detectable sign of vascular wall alterations and is an independent predictor of cardiovascular events and death. Metabolomics can be used to study the metabolic intermediates and products associated with arterial stiffness, providing insights for personalized cardiovascular risk assessment and treatment selection.

Summary: PE-induced hypertension results in a strong reflex-mediated decrease in cardiac output, and has stronger effects on PWV, AIx, total peripheral resistance, and pulse pressure compared to Ang II at equal mean aortic BP. Furthermore, there are minimal changes in circulating markers of endothelial function in response to both vasoactive infusions.

Summary: Eosinophils play a significant role in airway inflammation in diseases like asthma, chronic rhinosinusitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This review explores the immunological differences in eosinophilic airway inflammation and how it affects clinical presentation, emphasizing the need for accurate classification of patients based on phenotypes and endotypes to determine appropriate therapies.

Summary: Vascular and sympathetic abnormalities are characteristic of chronic heart failure (CHF). These alterations have significant effects on disease prognosis and can promote disease progression and the development of cardiovascular complications. This review will discuss various therapeutic interventions targeting these vascular/sympathetic abnormalities in CHF, including non-pharmacological, pharmacological, and device-based treatments, and also address the unmet goals in treatment related to endothelial and adrenergic targets.
