Summary: The study analyzed pedigree data of warmblood horses used in show jumping discipline, finding that while the average inbreeding coefficient was acceptable, the increasing percentage of inbred animals was concerning. The results also showed that a greater part of genetic variation reduction in modern sport horses occurred in non-founder generations.

Summary: This study compared the stroke techniques of male and female canoe slalom athletes during international competitions, finding that females tend to use switch transitions and on-side strokes more often while males prefer cross transitions and off-side strokes. Cross transitions were significantly faster than other transition types.

Summary: This study aimed to synthesize literature data on male judo combat time in international competitions between 2010 and 2019. The study found that male judo combat time changed after each rule change, with an increase in the occurrence of Golden Score. Differences were also observed between weight categories in 2011-2012, but no significant difference was found after the 2017 rule changes.

Summary: This study evaluated the potential of early life jumping traits as proxies for later success in show jumping competitions and found moderate to high genetic correlations between these traits and competition success. It was also discovered that horses that participated in young horse contests were more likely to compete later on and achieve greater success in competitions. The start status in young horse contests was moderately heritable in Belgian Warmblood horses and moderately to highly correlated with later success in competitions.

Summary: In recent decades, there has been an increased drop-out rate in adolescents' team sport participation, highlighting the need for more information about risk factors for drop-out. This systematic review aimed to synthesize the literature on factors associated with future drop-out from team sport among adolescents and investigate the strength of these associations through meta-analysis.

Summary: This study analyzed the performance of para-cyclists with different visual impairment degrees in a 1-km tandem-track race, finding that partially sighted athletes performed better and had a higher likelihood of winning medals. Improved competitive systems for visually impaired athletes are needed to ensure equity in track para-cycling events.

Summary: Laboratory evidence suggests that people tend to persuade themselves about the factual and moral superiority of a given position when they have to argue for it, which limits communication's potential to resolve conflict and reduce polarization. A field study conducted at international debating competitions confirms this self-persuasion phenomenon in factual beliefs and confidence in one's position. Although effect sizes are smaller than in laboratory settings, they remain robust even after a one-hour exchange of arguments and a significant increase in incentives for accuracy.

Summary: The study found that in parent-child communication during the car ride to and from sporting events, discussions about sports were minimal compared to other topics. Parents tended to provide more praise for their child's performance than athletes themselves, with praise and criticism being mostly general or task-oriented.

Summary: This study investigated the importance of the expected value of the proportion of Arabian genes (EV%AG) in equine genetic evaluations for eventing. The EV%AG was found to have a significant impact on the different aspects of eventing, including dressage, show jumping, and cross-country. Through multiple genetic models, the best way to model the EV%AG effect was by considering variance heterogeneity. The heritability of dressage and show jumping ranged from 0.10 to 0.21, while cross-country ranged from 0.07 to 0.01.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the influence of physical activity on peripheral blood cortisol concentration, and found that cortisol concentration significantly increased after training and competition, especially more intensive after competition. More challenging physical activities associated with competition events in race and endurance horses result in a greater stress response, highlighting the need to limit these events to ensure animal welfare. Performance horses adapt more readily to physical activity, experiencing less increase in cortisol concentration after the race.
