Summary: Inflammation can impact the expression and functionality of ABC transporters, leading to variability in drug response, especially for drugs with a narrow therapeutic index. Existing contradictory data and lack of standardization in the models used have resulted in a less conclusive interpretation of these findings.

Summary: The study investigates the role of hydrogen bonds and specific glutamines in drug recognition and transport by the ABCB1 efflux transporter. Results show that different glutamine mutations have varying effects on the transport of different drug classes, suggesting a complex mechanism of drug recognition. Surprisingly, some mutations improved drug transport, highlighting the intricate interactions within the drug binding pocket of ABCB1.

Summary: In this study, the authors used mass spectrometry techniques to determine the subunit stoichiometry and investigate drug binding locations of the multidrug resistance protein PatAB. The results suggest that the drug ethidium binds to the nucleotide-binding domain of PatA and can regulate nucleotide hydrolysis. Additionally, other drugs such as propidium, novobiocin, and coumermycin A1 were found to inhibit nucleotide hydrolysis by a non-competitive mechanism.

Summary: A high-throughput determination method was developed for the detection of veterinary drug residues in liquid milk, which can simultaneously detect 126 VDRs in 17 categories. The addition of Na2EDTA-McIlvaine in the extraction solvent improved the response intensity, reduced matrix effect, and eliminated the need for expensive purification. The method showed good linearity, low LOD, and high spike recoveries.

Summary: Microalgae are promising microorganisms for producing value-added products or developing sustainable environmental remediation approaches. This study investigated the ABC proteins of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and identified 75 CrABCs, classifying them into eight subfamilies. The study provided insights into the evolutionary history and functional roles of CrABCs, supporting their involvement in heavy metal detoxification, lipid metabolism, and environmental adaptation.

Summary: Extended use of antibiotics in dairy farming has raised concerns about antibiotic resistant bacteria in raw cow's milk. This study identified various antibiotic resistance genes associated with Gram-negative bacteria in antibiotic residue free raw cow's milk, with Pseudomonas spp. being the most abundant species found. The presence of Pseudomonas in raw cow's milk and their potential transfer of virulent factors to other bacteria highlights the importance of monitoring and addressing this issue.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitor Zanubrutinib can counteract anthracycline (ANT) drug resistance by targeting aldo-keto reductase 1C3 (AKR1C3) and ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. Zanubrutinib inhibits AKR1C3-mediated inactivation of daunorubicin (DAUN) and interferes with the efflux of DAUN mediated by ABC transporters. These findings provide a rationale for including Zanubrutinib in ANT-based therapy and suggest its potential for treating tumors expressing AKR1C3 and/or ABC transporters.

Summary: A method for simultaneously screening and confirming veterinary drugs, mycotoxins, and pesticides in bovine milk was developed and validated using UHPLC-Qtrap-MS. The method exhibited good sensitivity and satisfactory LOQs for the targeted contaminants. The results of the study provide insights into the presence and levels of various contaminants in milk samples.

Summary: Various adenosine receptor nucleoside-like ligands were found to modulate ATP hydrolysis by the multidrug transporter ABCG2. Structure-activity analysis showed a separation of adenosine receptor and ABCG2 activities. Among them, adenine 37c and (N)-meth-anocarba 7-deaza-5'-ethyl ester 60 were potent stimulators of ABCG2.

Summary: Trichomonas vaginalis is the causative agent of trichomoniasis, a common sexually transmitted infection. Metronidazole (MTZ) is the main treatment, but drug resistance is a growing concern. RNA sequencing of MTZ-resistant and MTZ-sensitive strains revealed upregulation of drug-resistant genes and novel pathways related to drug-induced stress.

Summary: Drug transporters are crucial for maintaining chemical balance and homeostasis in tissues, as well as for the absorption, distribution, and elimination of clinically important drugs. Diseases can alter the expression and function of drug transporters. However, there is limited knowledge on transporter regulation in critical protective barriers, which requires further research.

Summary: We used IR-sSNOM to investigate SPPs in TLG and found systematic differences in near-field IR spectra and SPP wavelengths between Bernal (ABA) and rhombohedral (ABC) TLG domains on SiO2, which can be explained by stacking-dependent intraband conductivities. The reflection profiles of SPP at ABA-ABC boundaries can be largely explained by an idealized domain boundary defined by conductivity discontinuity. However, we observed distinct shapes in the SPP profiles at the edges of ABA and ABC TLG, which cannot be solely attributed to idealized edges with stacking-dependent conductivities. Instead, this can be explained by the presence of various edge structures with local conductivities differing from bulk TLGs.
