Summary: This study used a meta-analysis approach to examine the relationship between psychological (in)flexibility and common outcomes in chronic pain patients. The results showed a significant negative association between psychological flexibility and pain intensity or functional impairment. There was also a significant positive association between psychological inflexibility and pain intensity, functional impairment, quality of life, as well as anxiety/depression. These findings have important implications for understanding the potential impact of psychological inflexibility or flexibility on chronic pain outcomes.

Summary: Chronic pain conditions are common and have a significant impact on health and wellbeing. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is commonly used to reduce this impact and has now developed into third wave CBT. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is an example of this new wave and has shown positive effects in treating chronic pain, including reducing pain interference, disability, depression, and improving quality of life. However, more research is needed to understand the factors that moderate and predict treatment outcomes.

Summary: This meta-analysis examines the associations between psychological flexibility processes and functioning among chronic pain patients. The findings indicate significant relationships between the six core processes of psychological flexibility and functioning, with some moderating factors identified. These findings have important implications for both patients and clinical workers.

Summary: The current study aimed to examine the validity of the Spanish version of the Valuing Questionnaire (VQ) in a large Spaniard sample and analyze its measurement invariance with a similar Colombian sample. The results showed that the Spanish version of the VQ demonstrated good internal consistency, good fit to the data, and theoretically coherent correlations with other variables.

Summary: This study aims to explore the efficacy of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for chronic pain in terms of functioning, and identify the most promising modes and patterns for implementation. It will include systematic review and meta-analysis, assess study quality, extract data, and conduct meta-analysis to reach a convincing conclusion. The anticipated evidence of high level may contribute to a more convincing and targeted conclusion in managing chronic pain.

Summary: The study found that changes in pain acceptance, mindfulness, and psychological flexibility were significantly associated with changes in clinical outcomes for chronic pain patients. Through correlation and regression analysis, it was shown that there were moderate to large associations between these three processes. This research addresses the lack of investigations into chronic pain patients with comorbid mental disorders.

Summary: Hoarding is a common problem behavior worldwide that negatively impacts physical and mental health. Current interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapies, may not have long-term efficacy, and research lacks examination of mediating variables and cultural differences. This study compared Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) on hoarding and related outcomes, finding that both interventions improved psychological flexibility, cognition, and emotional regulation. ACT was more effective in reducing hoarding and depression, while psychological flexibility mediated the effects on outcomes.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy of a digital self-management intervention called EPIO for people living with chronic pain. The results showed significant reductions in symptoms of depression and self-regulatory fatigue, but no significant improvement in pain interference. Participants found EPIO to be useful, easy to use, and containing easily understandable exercises.

Summary: The purpose of this study is to explore the potential classification of psychological flexibility (PF) among Chinese college students, analyze group heterogeneity in PF, and discuss the differences in the latent profile of PF in the negative emotions of depression, anxiety, and stress. The results show that the PF of college students can be divided into three latent profiles: self-contradiction group (19.2%), high PF group (34.1%), and low PF group (46.7%). There are significant differences in the scores of depression, anxiety, and stress among the groups.

Summary: This study investigated the potential overlap between adaptability and psychological flexibility through an online cross-sectional survey with a sample size of 205 participants. Confirmatory factor analysis showed significant overlap but enough discrimination between the two constructs. Structural equation modeling revealed that adaptability was positively related to psychological well-being, but not related to psychological distress after controlling for the effects of psychological flexibility.

Summary: This scoping review examines the research on psychological flexibility/inflexibility (PF/PI) in older adulthood. The results show that older adults have higher awareness compared to younger adults, and openness and awareness have consistent medium to large correlations with anxiety and depression. However, there are variations and limitations in the literature, indicating the need for addressing measurement issues and conceptual clarity.

Summary: The study presents a comprehensive model of psychological support implemented during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic aimed at promoting resilient stress reactions among frontline staff. Peer support initiatives and daily group sessions were found to be the most appreciated forms of psychological support. Successful implementation of the support model was attributed to on-shift support, positive attitude from line managers, and involvement of experienced psychologists who could quickly adjust the content of support according to current needs.

Summary: Digitally delivered behavioral interventions for chronic pain have shown promising results, but not all patients benefit from them. By analyzing pooled data from three studies on digitally delivered Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for chronic pain, it was found that patients with shorter pain duration and higher degree of insomnia symptoms at baseline showed greater treatment effects.

Summary: The study found that autistic traits and ADHD symptoms in pediatric chronic pain patients are associated with lower functioning, particularly pain interference with daily life and socioemotional functioning. However, ACT treatment significantly improved various outcome variables for all patients, with higher autistic traits potentially leading to additional benefits in emotional functioning and sleep disturbance.
