Summary: Recent research has demonstrated the promising utility of transition metal complexes with M-E bonds stabilized by multidentate ligands, where E represents a main group metal or metalloid element. Main group metal and metalloid ligands provide unique electronic and steric environments to transition metals, leading to remarkable catalytic activity and product selectivity. This perspective highlights the potential of these compounds as a new class of supporting ligands for transition metal catalysts in synthetic chemistry.

Summary: A family of transition metal complexes based on meso-aryl-2-aza-21-carbaporphyrin (N-confused porphyrin, NCP) derivatives were synthesized and characterized. The chirality of these complexes was demonstrated by enantiomeric separation and analysis. Preliminary catalytic study showed the activity of iridium(III) ortho-metallated complexes in the N-heterocyclization of primary amines with diols.

Summary: This article presents a new mechanism for helix inversion in polymers, which is achieved by activating/deactivating supramolecular interactions. The screw sense of the polymer is fixed by the spatial orientation of the substituents, but can be reversed through supramolecular interactions and external stimuli.

Summary: In this study, a rhodium-catalyzed C-H functionalization-based intermolecular allylation of indoles with trisubstituted allenes has been developed. The synthetic process demonstrates excellent regioselectivity, Z-selectivity, high efficiency of chirality transfer, and a wide tolerance of reactive functional groups under mild conditions. Late-stage modification on complex bioactive or drug molecules has been achieved, along with various synthetic transformations. A reaction mechanism has been proposed based on mechanistic experiments and SAESI-MS studies.

Summary: The catalytic enantioselective preparation of axially chiral molecules has become a topic of significant interest in recent decades due to their wide-ranging applications. While there are well-established synthetic approaches for six-membered axially chiral skeletons, methods for five-membered axially chiral compounds are relatively rare. Among these compounds, axially chiral arylpyrroles are particularly important and desirable. This review summarizes recent advances in the atroposelective preparation of arylpyrroles, focusing on the synthetic methods for each axially chiral framework, reaction mechanisms, and applications.

Summary: The catalytic addition of water to unsaturated C-C or C-N p bonds is an important and environmentally sustainable method for forming C-O bonds. Traditional acid-catalyzed hydration requires strong acids or toxic mercury salts, limiting its practical applications and posing safety and environmental concerns. Transition-metal-catalyzed hydration with NHC ligands has gained significant attention and has achieved major progress. This review provides a comprehensive overview of hydration reactions catalyzed by transition metal-NHC complexes and their applications in catalytic hydration.

Summary: A new oxo-bridged chromium-molybdenum heterometallic complex, O-CrMoHC, was synthesized by a solvothermal reaction. The complex exhibits anisotropic conductivity in single crystals, with higher electrical conductivity along the [01-1] direction compared to the [100] direction. This is the first report of anisotropic conductivity observed in a monomeric heterometallic complex single crystal.

Summary: This article introduces a sustainable and economic alternative to palladium in asymmetric radical couplings using 3D metals. By combining asymmetric cobalt catalysis with organic photoredox catalysis and identifying an efficient chiral polydentate ligand, the authors successfully achieved visible-light-induced asymmetric radical couplings for the construction of axial chirality.

Summary: Optically active organosilanes have been demonstrated to be versatile chiral reagents in synthetic chemistry. Monohydrosilanes, which bear a Si-H bond, are especially unique due to their facile transformations through stereospecific bond-formation reactions. In addition, they have also been used as chiral reagents for alcohol resolution, chiral auxiliaries, mechanistic probes, and potential optoelectronic materials.

Summary: Allenes are a unique class of unsaturated hydrocarbons with two carbon-carbon double bonds. They are highly reactive and exhibit significant axial chirality, making them important in asymmetric synthesis. This review discusses the different types of annulations using metal catalyzed cycloaddition reactions, and also highlights the synthetic applications of these reactions towards natural products.
