Summary: This article comprehensively describes the development of medical records from ancient to modern times, reflecting the revolutionary change from paper-based to electronic format. The migration process to eHealth records involves the use of artificial intelligence algorithms, which benefit both patients and providers by improving patient management and communication among medical centers.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate agreement between surgeons and two TKA appropriateness tools, finding significant differences between the tools and surgeon decisions. Surgeons in Australia, as well as in the USA, Spain, and Qatar, generally rated patients seeking TKA as appropriate for surgery; however, the AAOS tool showed low correlation with surgeons compared to the Escobar tool.

Summary: Cardiovascular disease has a significant impact, and knowledge-based research is necessary. However, there is limited research on corpus construction for this disease, hindering further knowledge-based research. This study collected electronic medical record data and developed a standard for labeling cardiovascular electronic medical record entities and entity relations. A cardiovascular electronic medical record entity and entity relationship labeling corpus (CVDEMRC) was constructed with good consistency results, providing a database for information extraction research related to cardiovascular diseases.

Summary: This study developed a novel approach for predicting postpartum hemorrhage and identified clinical feature thresholds that can guide intrapartum monitoring for PPH risk. The results suggest that the model has the potential to reduce PPH morbidity and mortality through early detection and prevention.

Summary: This study aimed to determine whether cardiovascular risk assessment is possible using available data in electronic medical records and my health records of patients presenting with acute cardiac symptoms. The results showed significant gaps in electronic medical data capture of key variables, and the collection of clinically important data should be prioritized to address these gaps.

Summary: This study uses clinical features from electronic health records (EHRs) to build a complementary tool for predicting susceptibility to coronary artery disease (CAD). The findings show that an EHR score improves CAD prediction and reclassification, particularly in individuals with low CAD risk, compared to conventional clinical guidelines.

Summary: This study aimed to assess how various clinical characteristics influence the judgement of appropriateness of cardiovascular preventive medications (CPM) in older adults. The study found that besides individual context, factors such as history of cardiovascular disease, complexity of health problems, side effects, and life expectancy also influence the appropriateness of CPM.

Summary: RA patients have a 1.5 times higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases compared to the general population. This is partly due to systemic inflammation causing increased atherogenesis, and an increased prevalence of traditional cardiovascular risk factors.

Summary: Health systems play a crucial role in detecting suicide risk. This study aimed to identify and validate health indicators of suicide death among individuals with and without mental health diagnoses. Using statistical modeling and health record data, the study found multiple indicators associated with suicide risk, both for those with mental health diagnoses and those without. These findings can support the identification of risk and prevention efforts in health systems.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the range of hypotension in patients of nurse anesthetists and its association with serious complications. The results showed that hypotension in patient cases was related to complications, but the average amount of hypotension among nurse anesthetists varied only slightly and was insufficient to explain meaningful differences in complications.

Summary: Current guidelines on cardiovascular risk management may not be applicable for older adults with dementia, as previous studies have not specifically included this population. Considering the potential risks and benefits, individualized treatment strategies and regular monitoring are necessary in managing cardiovascular risk in older patients with dementia. The focus should be on maintaining quality of life, preventing cognitive and functional deterioration, and promoting independence.

Summary: This study analyzed the miRNA expression profile in patients with type 1 diabetes who had either carotid calcified or fibrous plaque. The results showed that miR-503-5p, let-7d-5p, miR-106b-3p, and miR-93-5p were significantly upregulated in patients with calcified plaque, while miR-10a-5p was downregulated. These findings provide new insights into the pathophysiology of plaque formation.

Summary: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common liver disease worldwide. Currently, there are no approved therapeutic strategies for NAFLD, and hepatic biopsy is still the gold standard for diagnosis. NAFLD is a multifactorial disease with a spectrum of conditions ranging from simple steatosis to more severe stages. Studies have highlighted the need for an NAFLD risk prediction model based on genetics, biomarkers, and metabolic disorders. Mitochondrial dysfunction plays a key role in the progression of NAFLD. Alterations in the displacement loop (D-loop) region and cell-free circulating mitochondrial DNA (mt-ccf) have been proposed as potential non-invasive biomarkers for NAFLD.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the safety of SGLT2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes. A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) showed that SGLT2is were well tolerated in the elderly, but older patients were underrepresented in clinical trials.
