Summary: This study explored how patients' help-seeking experiences in primary care for colorectal cancer symptoms during COVID-19 were influenced by their socioeconomic status (SES). The findings indicated that lower SES participants expressed uncertainty in symptom appraisal and navigating services, while higher SES patients were more likely to use alternative methods of communication. COVID-19 exacerbated disparities between higher and lower SES groups.

Summary: The Internet provides a wealth of mental health resources for help-seekers, but finding personally relevant resources can be challenging. Existing technologies often overwhelm users with medicalized recommendations. In our study, we compared existing technologies with two novel prototypes that emphasized connectedness, accessibility, personalization, and immediacy. The prototypes improved certain aspects of help-seeking, but had limitations in supporting symptom-based help-seeking. Based on our findings, we provide recommendations for integrated help-seeking technologies.

Patients rely on significant others for psychosocial support, but overcoming various barriers to access psychosocial support remains a challenge for healthcare providers.

Summary: The study identified cognitive and affective factors as predictive of help-seeking intentions for individuals with possible cognitive impairment after first noticing symptoms. Surprisingly, high threat appraisal positively influenced help-seeking intentions, contrary to expectations. Future research is recommended to investigate patients' help-seeking intentions and actions further in response to signs of cognitive impairment.

Summary: This study explored the sources of gender-based violence (GBV) support services and the challenges faced by transwomen in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area during help-seeking. The study found that transwomen sought help from key population-friendly healthcare facilities, civil society organizations (CSOs), police, and friends and family. However, they faced various challenges including lack of recognition of their transgender identity, discrimination by healthcare providers and CSO staff, and inappropriate questioning by police officers and healthcare providers. The study highlights the importance of addressing stigma and discrimination against transwomen at existing GBV support sources and the need for training law enforcers and legal personnel on healthcare access rights for transwomen in Uganda.

Summary: This study aimed to identify motivations for nutrition information-seeking behavior among Belgian adults. The results revealed five categories of motivations, including health management, cognitive needs, affective needs, social integrative needs, and personal identity. The findings indicate that nutrition information serves more complex needs than simply information needs. To enhance the efficacy of nutrition education efforts, communication strategies should be tailored to a diverse range of motivations.

Summary: This study found that gut feelings are consistently present in primary care medicine, with a sense of reassurance and a sense of alarm being the two main types. The sense of alarm is more likely to occur in older patients, those with cancer-associated symptoms, or those in non-urban settings. General practitioners are more likely to take diagnostic action after experiencing a sense of alarm. The sense of alarm has a relatively high sensitivity but a low positive predictive value for the diagnosis of cancer and other serious diseases.

Summary: Insomnia is a commonly under-reported issue by both patients and doctors. When seeking help for insomnia, patients tend to first consult with a general practitioner and the majority of them use medication for their sleep problems. Those who seek help the most are individuals with more severe insomnia and those who are more anxious.
