Summary: This meta-analysis assessed the safety of acupuncture in oncological patients and found that acupuncture is as safe as sham acupuncture and active controls. Acupuncture does not increase the risk of intervention-related adverse events (AEs), serious AEs, or drop out because of AEs compared with sham acupuncture and active controls. Compared with treatment as usual (TAU), acupuncture does not increase the risk of intervention-related AEs, serious AEs, or drop out because of AEs, but is associated with an increased risk of non-serious AEs.

Summary: Although Battlefield Acupuncture (BFA) is a safe and easily learned acupuncture technique mainly used in acute pain management, it did not show significant improvement in pain intensity compared to control groups in adult individuals with pain. High-quality randomized controlled trials with rigorous evaluation methods are needed in the future to further investigate its effects.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the effectiveness of acupuncture as a treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). The results showed that acupuncture, as an adjunctive treatment, may be effective in improving symptoms, functional status, pain intensity, and electrophysiological parameters in patients with CTS. However, more rigorous studies comparing acupuncture with sham acupuncture or other active treatments are needed.

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical efficacy of acupuncture for the treatment of diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) based on existing randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The results showed that acupuncture had significant efficacy in decreasing follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels, FSH/LH ratio, and increasing anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) levels and antral follicle count (AFC). Manual acupuncture was found to be superior to electro-acupuncture treatment, and the combination of acupuncture with traditional Chinese medicine therapy also showed notable improvement. The findings suggest that acupuncture has clinical potential for patients with DOR.

Summary: Acupuncture combined with routine treatment after TKA showed significant pain reduction, improved function, and reduced nausea/vomiting. However, the pain relief effect of acupuncture is mainly within 48 hours post-operatively, and it does not significantly improve range of knee motion. More large-scale and high-quality studies are needed to verify these findings.

Summary: In this study, the effects of acupuncture on gouty arthritis were examined by comparing it to conventional treatment. The results showed that acupuncture was more effective in reducing pain intensity and improving treatment outcomes compared to conventional treatment alone. Additionally, the combination of acupuncture with conventional treatment further improved pain intensity, pain relief duration, and serum uric acid levels. However, due to the low quality of evidence, further well-designed clinical trials are needed to validate these findings.

Summary: This study proposes a technique to fabricate composite particle-free optical diffusers with high transmittance and high haze by combining PIPS and postpolymer encapsulation. By altering the composition of two porogens, the porous structure morphology can be tailored to generate different scattering modes. The transmittance and haze spectra can be tuned by varying the diffuser thickness, and the optimized diffuser can achieve superhigh haze and transparency simultaneously. This technique provides a facile, low-cost, and easily scalable route for making optical diffusers with high transmittance and haze, facilitating their real-world application.
