Summary: Cisplatin, a widely used chemotherapeutic drug, is effective against various solid cancers but limited by its adverse drug reactions. The most common reactions include nephrotoxicity, peripheral neuropathy, and ototoxicity. Previous studies focused on oxidative stress as the cause of these toxicities, but recent evidence suggests that inflammation may be the main driving force. This review summarizes the common and distinct inflammation characteristics among different adverse reactions, as well as current treatments targeting pro-inflammatory signaling pathways to improve the use of cisplatin.

Summary: Cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of high mortality in SLE patients, and traditional risk factors are insufficient in predicting their risk. Inflammation has been found to play a crucial role in the development of atherosclerosis in SLE, highlighting the need for new biomarkers to assess subclinical CVD risk.

Summary: The study identified high levels of G-CSF and IL-6 in all patients with lmna mutations, as well as elevated levels of other interleukins and GM-CSF in patients with more aggressive clinical manifestations. Furthermore, increased expression of Hsp70 in serum exosomes was observed in patients with the more severe phenotype, suggesting potential diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic implications against Lamin A/C cardiomyopathies.

Summary: Honey contains flavonoids and phenolic acids that may have important implications for human health due to their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have shown that honey can inhibit the expression of pro-inflammatory factors in conditions such as cancer and neuro-inflammatory disorders. However, more high-quality research is needed to firmly establish the clinical efficacy of honey and understand the specific mechanisms of its anti-inflammatory effects.

Summary: Mast cells (MCs) are tissue cells derived from bone marrow stem cells and play a role in various diseases and disorders. They communicate with microglia in the brain through the production of mediators and can have pathological effects. MCs release preformed chemical mediators and cytokines, and can interact with neuropeptides, leading to inflammation in the central nervous system. This article explores the activation of MCs by neuropeptides and the therapeutic potential of anti-inflammatory cytokines.

Summary: Inflammation is an immune response to harmful stimuli, but excessive inflammation can lead to chronic inflammatory diseases. Macrophages play a crucial role in this process, responding to the local microenvironment by polarizing into M1 or M2 phenotypes. Elevated O-GlcNAc levels in M1 polarized macrophages are associated with increased expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines. O-GlcNAc interacts with iNOS and affects its activity.

Summary: Nanotechnology is a promising technology of the twenty-first century, with silver nanoparticles (AgNP) being the most widely commercialized nanosystems. However, concerns have been raised about the potential pro-inflammatory effects of AgNP on the intestinal system after human oral exposure.

Summary: Nicotine, as an anti-inflammatory alkaloid, has dual roles in treating diseases. It predominantly exhibits anti-inflammatory effects, especially in ulcerative colitis, arthritis, sepsis, and endotoxemia, but may promote and aggravate certain diseases such as periodontitis and gingivitis in oral inflammation. The molecular mechanism of nicotine in these inflammatory diseases involves regulating immune cells, immune factors, and the vagus and acetylcholinergic anti-inflammatory pathways, offering potential value for remedying acute and chronic inflammation in humans.

Summary: The study found that patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) exhibit a significant decrease in circulating VEGF, while neutrophil-derived IL-8 is significantly increased in these patients. These findings suggest alterations in the inflammatory levels in patients with HFrEF.

Summary: This study found that among women who conceived after blastocyst transfer, there was a transient increase in pro-inflammatory cytokines (IFN-gamma and IL-17) 3 days after transfer, followed by a shift to anti-inflammatory cytokines (increased IL-10 and TGF-beta 1) by day 6 and sustained increase by day 9, when pregnancy was confirmed.
