Summary: The kinetics of transient coarsening co-controlled by interface and matrix diffusion is studied in a new framework developed in the Lifshitz-Slyozov-Wagner space. The time for transient coarsening is found to change non-monotonically with the width and tail length of the initial distribution. A unique attractor state for the steady stage is identified, and the numerical origin of 'quasi-steady' distributions is revealed. The increase in volume fraction shortens the transient stage dominated by single mechanism but delays the transition to the diffusion-controlled stage.

Summary: This study proposes the development of a low-cost, renewable, and porous adsorbent derived from Ficus benjamina leaves for removing cationic dyes from wastewater. The adsorbent was characterized and found to have small pore size, high volume, and large surface area. The optimal pH for adsorption varied for different dyes, and the adsorption mechanism was determined to be a two-body interaction. The pulverized dry leaves of Ficus benjamina showed great potential as a batch adsorbent for cationic dyes in wastewater.

Summary: Activated carbon coated on glass beads was used for the adsorption of phenol. Both batch and column adsorption studies were conducted, and kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were evaluated. The results showed that the adsorption process followed pseudo-second-order kinetics and was endothermic and non-spontaneous. The Temkin isotherm model was found to have the best fit, and the system was determined to be physisorption in nature.

Summary: In this study, a NH4Cl-assisted annealing strategy was developed to prepare chlorine-doped spongiform TiO2/C composite (ZATC-Cl) as an anode material for sodium-ion battery. The ZATC-Cl exhibited excellent sodium storage performance, with high reversible capacity, superior rate capability, and considerable high-rate cycling performance. The unique spongiform structure and ultra-small sized TiO2 particles in ZATC-Cl enabled fast sodium-ion insertion/extraction and rapid sodium-ion diffusion kinetics. The Cl dopants introduced in ZATC-Cl provided more active sites for robust sodium-ion chemical adsorption, optimizing sodium-ion reaction thermodynamics.

Summary: The study investigated the use of Zinc Chloride-modified Lamiaceae Leaves Powder as a cheap adsorbent for extracting Methylene Blue. Results showed positive impacts of various factors on adsorption efficiency, with the Langmuir model being the most efficient and the kinetics showing a second-order effect. Thermodynamic analysis indicated that the adsorption process is exothermic and spontaneous.

Summary: This study investigates the crucial category of nonequilibrium steady states (NESS) in the mesoscopic world. By employing a model NESS stochastic system, the researchers demonstrate that time-integrated observables, such as the entropic current and work done on/dissipated by the system, follow the three Levy arcsine laws in the large time limit. The study provides insights into NESS statistics and the role of stochastic fluctuations.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are known for their precise control of structures and functions on a molecular level, but designing local flexibility in the MOF framework for dynamic molecular sieving remains challenging. A newly reported MOF material, JNU-3a, features one-dimension channels with embedded molecular pockets that can selectively adsorb propylene and propane under different pressures, showcasing the potential of dynamic molecular sieving.

Summary: This paper examines the circular motion of microswimmers in a two-dimensional plane and studies the trade-off relations between precision, energy cost, and rotational speed. Based on these findings, principles and strategies for designing microswimmers with special optimized functions under limited energy resources are predicted, providing new experimental inspiration for designing smart motors.
