Determination of uranium in water samples using homogeneous liquid-liquid microextraction via flotation assistance and inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry

A new method was developed for the preconcentration and determination of uranium in the water samples using homogeneous liquid-liquid microextraction via flotation assistance and inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry. A special extraction cell was designed to facilitate collection of the low-density extraction solvent by using air flotation for extraction of uranium. Under the optimized condition a linear response was obtained over the range of 1.25-100 A mu g L-1 for uranium. Limit of detection and relative standard deviation of the proposed HLLME-FA method were obtained 0.4 A mu g L-1 and 6.6 % for uranium, respectively.
