Summary: Textile industries are a major contributor to water pollution due to high water consumption and wastewater emissions. This study investigated the adsorption behavior of AB210 and AB7 azo dyes using activated sewage sludge biochar adsorbent. Batch studies determined optimum adsorption parameters, and isotherm and kinetic studies were conducted to evaluate the adsorption process. The results showed a good fit with the pseudo second order kinetic model (R2 > 0.96). Thermodynamic studies revealed the nature of dye uptake and the pollutants were safely disposed of through landfilling. The study achieved high removal rates of 99.32% for AB210 and 94.28% for AB7 in synthetic solutions.

Summary: This study explores the method of removing Pb (II) ions from water using Lantana camara leaves' biosorbent (LCLB). The findings suggest that LCLB can effectively eliminate Pb (II) ions under specific conditions (such as pH, temperature, and adsorbent dose), and the adsorption process is spontaneous and exothermic.

Summary: Contamination of water with heavy metals, particularly lead, has been a major environmental concern. Chemical and biological methods have been studied for the removal of lead ions, and it was found that chemical adsorption had higher efficiency and capacity compared to biological methods. Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) showed the highest adsorption capacity among the chemical methods due to their large surface area and high porosity.

Summary: This review focuses on the efficiency of tamarind-based nanocomposites as potential adsorbents for various harmful organic and inorganic water pollutants. It provides a comprehensive analysis of the fabrication routes, adsorption isotherms, kinetic and thermodynamic modeling, as well as the adsorption mechanism and recyclability of these adsorbents. Factors affecting the adsorption behavior and a comparison with other nanomaterials are also discussed. Based on the literature surveyed, there is great potential for future research on tamarind-based nanocomposites as low-cost biomaterials in water purification.

Summary: The study showed that chemically activated Ailanthus altissima sawdust can be used as a suitable adsorbent for removing harmful substances, especially dyes, from polluted waters. The Freundlich model and pseudo second-order kinetic model were found to be the most suitable for calculating adsorption parameters.

Summary: This study utilized olive leaves Chemlali pruning waste (OLC) as a biosorbent to remove Cr(VI) ions from aqueous solution. The central composite design (CCD) based on response surface methodology (RSM) was used to determine the optimum operating conditions. The experimental data showed that Langmuir isotherm model was the best fit for the adsorption process, and OLC exhibited good regeneration and reusability. The results are significant for hexavalent chromium recovery.

Summary: The study synthesized graphene oxide crosslinked nanocomposites hydrogels of chitosan and carboxymethyl cellulose as versatile adsorbents for both cationic and anionic dyes contaminated wastewater. The adsorption process was well explained using pseudo-second-order and Langmuir models, with excellent regeneration capacity demonstrated for continuous cycles of adsorption-desorption. The synthesized CS/CMC-NCH showed great potential for effective treatment of dye-contaminated wastewater.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the adsorption of copper ions in an aqueous solution using eggshell byproducts and calcined eggshells. The optimal conditions for adsorption treatment were evaluated through a response surface method, considering factors such as reaction time, metal concentration, adsorbent dose, temperature, and pH. The results showed that eggshells, eggshell membranes, eggshells with membrane, and calcined eggshells could effectively remove copper ions from industrial wastewater and the calcined eggshell exhibited better adsorption capacity. This study highlights the potential of utilizing waste materials in the food industry for wastewater treatment, contributing to a circular economy approach.
