Summary: Colon capsule endoscopy (CCE) is currently used for specific indications. The increasing demand for outpatient treatment along with advancements in technology and clinical quality may allow for broader use of CCE. Artificial intelligence-based analysis and quality assessment could enhance the quality and affordability of CCE.

Summary: The study results indicate that using different types of distal attachments (such as cuff or cap) does not show significant advantages over high-definition white light colonoscopy in improving adenoma detection rate, but Endocuff may have some advantages in the screening population.

Summary: CCE had lower completion rates compared to CT colonography and AA colonoscopy, but showed higher polyp detection rates. The completion rate of CCE following incomplete colonoscopy was suboptimal in this study.

Summary: The use of a distal attachment cap with rubber side arms, the Endocuff Vision (ECV), significantly increased adenoma detection rate in primary colonoscopic screening, which is crucial for preventing interval cancers.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of a one-day individualized training program on the diagnostic sensitivity of experienced radiologists in detecting 6-mm or larger lesions in CT colonography (CTC) scans, as well as the durability of the improvement and any associated factors. The results showed that the training intervention led to a significant improvement in sensitivity, and this improvement was maintained at 6 and 12 months after the intervention.

Summary: The aim of this study was to capture and report patient experiences of the CCE technology and the new clinical pathway for the CCE service in Scotland. The findings showed that patients perceived the CCE service as valuable, mentioning benefits such as reduced travel times, reduced waiting times, and the ability to complete the procedure at home. Recommendations for future implementations of CCE services include promoting CCE among clinical teams, understanding patients' reasons for choosing or not choosing CCE, providing clear information to patients, improving bowel preparation, and embedding formative evaluation within the service itself.

Summary: This study evaluated the reading time and detection rate of significant lesions of Colon Capsule Endoscopy (CCE) images among novice and trained expert endoscopy nurses and novice physicians. The results showed that trained expert endoscopy nurses had shorter reading time and higher detection rates of important lesions compared to novice nurses and physicians. The study suggests that trained expert endoscopy nurses can enhance diagnostic yield and reduce physician's time in CCE reading.

Summary: While the incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer are decreasing in the United States, they are increasing in Japan, highlighting the importance of controlling colorectal cancer in the latter. Colon capsule endoscopy, introduced in 2006, offers a promising alternative to traditional colonoscopy in certain situations, but challenges such as reading burden and lesion oversight still exist. Progress is being made in the development of artificial intelligence for automatic diagnosis of colon capsule endoscopy.

Summary: The study showed that capsule colonoscopy (CCE) has high sensitivity and specificity for per-patient polyps detection compared to standard colonoscopy, but the relatively high rate of unfinished CCEs limits its utilization for colorectal cancer screening.

Summary: CCE shows potential advantages in CRC screening, with comparable accuracy to colonoscopy in detecting CRC and polyps. Its sensitivity is superior to CTC, but improvement is needed in completion rates.

Summary: The study found that the second-generation narrow-band imaging did not improve adenoma detection rate compared to white-light imaging in both academic and community hospitals, but it did improve detection of easily overlooked flat and depressed lesions.

Summary: Based on the study, younger age, unchanged stool pattern, history of abdominal surgery, low BMI, and high fiber intake were associated with slower CCE transit times and lower completion rates. In future practice, these factors can be considered for adjusting preparation protocols.

Summary: Individual income and educational level are associated with participation rates in colorectal cancer screening. Expected discomfort from diagnostic procedures may act as a potential barrier for participation, particularly in higher socioeconomic groups. A randomized clinical trial within the Danish colorectal cancer screening program investigated the expected discomfort from colonoscopy and colon capsule endoscopy using questionnaires. The findings suggest that expected discomfort is not a significant contributor to the inequalities in screening uptake.
