Summary: Polysaccharides are important for biomedical and functional food applications, but their quantification is challenging due to their complex structure and lack of standards. This study proposes an improved method using saccharide mapping to assess polysaccharides from Hericium erinaceus. The method involves digestion, labeling, and separation of specific oligosaccharides, resulting in accurate quantification. The proposed method can enhance the quality control of polysaccharides, benefiting not only H. erinaceus but also other materials.

Summary: A new solid-phase extraction (SPE) coupled with capillary electrophoresis (CE) method was developed for preconcentration and determination of anthraquinones and flavonoids in honey. By optimizing extraction parameters and using chitin as adsorbent, the method achieved enrichment and detection of target compounds with high sensitivity.

Summary: Mammals maintain systemic dominance of L-amino acids through enzymatic degradation and excretion of D-amino acids. The majority of microbial D-amino acids are catabolized by host enzymes, while urinary excretion plays a minor role. This active regulation of amino acid homochirality depends on maternal catabolism during the prenatal period and switches to host catabolism after birth.

Summary: This study presents a novel method for site-selective tyrosine bioconjugation using photoredox catalysis, which allows for chemically modifying native proteins with high site-selectivity. The water-soluble photocatalyst lumiflavin has been demonstrated to induce oxidative coupling between a phenoxazine dialdehyde tag and a single tyrosine site on native proteins, even in the presence of multiple tyrosyl side chains, enabling the synthesis of structurally defined fluorescent conjugates.

Summary: The study utilized capillary electrophoresis coupled to LED-induced fluorescence detection and CBQCA labeling for the analysis of amino acids such as tryptophan, facing challenges in detection and quantification, especially for Trp. Another approach, CE/capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection, showed better performance for quantification of Trp, Tyr, Val, and Ile, with a LOD of 2 μM for Trp.

Summary: SNAT2 is an important amino acid transporter involved in amino acid accumulation, cellular osmolarity, and cell growth. A potent inhibitor of SNAT2 has been identified through high-throughput screening, with selectivity against other transporters. Combined with a glucose transport inhibitor, this compound can halt the proliferative growth of cancer cells.

Summary: A low-cost, high-throughput photoresponsive strategy for the sensing of amino acid enantiomers was proposed, utilizing the oxidation reactions of amino acid oxidase and substrate with an aromatic boronic ester. The method demonstrated sensitive detection of D/L-AA concentrations through the colorimetric and fluorescent response of the probe HBT-PB to H2O2. The practicality and adaptability of the scheme were confirmed by accurate analysis of methionine and Dopa samples, highlighting its potential for high-throughput screening and sensitive analysis.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that plasma amino acid levels are associated with visceral obesity, insulin resistance, and future development of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. This study aimed to examine the association between amino acid profile and metabolic syndrome in the Chinese Han population. The results indicated that MetS patients exhibit an abnormal amino acid profile, with certain amino acids showing significant differences between MetS and non-MetS groups. Additionally, decreased taurine levels may be linked to the future development of MetS.

Summary: Flavonoids are widely used in the treatment of various diseases due to their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer and antiviral properties. In this study, a method of fluorescence enhancement of flavonoids was introduced for the first time using sodium acetate for flavonoid derivatization. Five specific flavonoids were successfully separated and analyzed by capillary electrophoresis with laser-induced fluorescence detection. The developed method was then applied to the determination of flavonoids in traditional Chinese medicines, and the presence of flavonoids was confirmed in all tested medicines. The method proved to be fast, sensitive and reliable for the determination of flavonoids.

Summary: The paper discusses the structures, naming, and anti-Mycobacterium tuberculosis activity of cyclopeptides such as rufomycin and ilamycin. Through NMR spectroscopy, the configuration and diastereoisomers of these compounds were determined, and semisynthetic derivatives were prepared for validation. Structural differences and conformers were analyzed to understand the biological activity of these compounds, leading to a unified nomenclature for the group.
