Summary: The study identifies a SNP, rs41291957 (A), near the miR-143/145 cluster that upregulates miR-143 and miR-145, modulating vascular smooth cell phenotype and acting as a protective factor against coronary artery disease.

Summary: Glaucoma is a disease characterized by optic neuropathy and vision loss, with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) being the most common type worldwide. Genetic susceptibility plays a key role in POAG, with many susceptibility genes affecting microRNA expression and function, leading to the occurrence and development of POAG. It is increasingly recognized that microRNAs are involved in regulating intraocular pressure and are closely linked to optic nerve damage factors in POAG.

Summary: IPF patients showed significant overexpression of miR-608, while levels of CdC42 and IL-6 were lower in comparison to controls. Additionally, the frequency of the rs17228616 minor allele was significantly higher in IPF patients compared to healthy individuals, suggesting a potential genetic link to the disease.

Summary: This study investigated the genetic association between recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) and microRNA (miRNA) polymorphisms in miR-10aA>T, miR-30cA>G, miR-181aT>C, and miR-499bA>G in Korean women. The study identified specific genotypes of miR-10a and miR-499 that are associated with increased RPL risk.

Summary: The study demonstrates the possibility of using ionic liquids as a stationary liquid phase for gas chromatographic multicapillary columns. Three types of ionic liquids were employed and their efficiency was determined based on the carrier gas flow rate. The use of 1,2-Dimethyl-3-propylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide as the stationary liquid phase showed the highest efficiency and the loading capacity was also determined. Separation of fatty acid esters and phenols using the multicapillary column with ionic liquids as the stationary liquid phase showcased the combination of fast separations with high selectivity.

Summary: Skin pigmentation in humans depends on the balance of pheomelanin and eumelanin, with TYRP1 playing a key role in eumelanin synthesis. High TYRP1 mRNA expression is paradoxically linked to poor clinical outcomes in melanoma patients, as it sequesters tumor suppressor miRNA-16. This unexpected function of TYRP1 is influenced by transcription factors, SNPs, and miRNAs, all of which contribute to its indirect oncogenic activity.

Summary: Despite recent advances in imaging and epidemiological data analysis, musculoskeletal injuries remain a welfare issue in racehorses. Studies on miRNA profiling in horses have yet to reliably predict fractures, highlighting the need for well-designed future studies that account for variations in sample size, exercise, and normalization methods.

Summary: The study identified an association between polymorphisms in miR-604A>G and miR-938G>A and the risk of idiopathic recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL), suggesting potential effects on RPL in Korean women. The results indicate that these miRNA polymorphisms may play a role in RPL susceptibility.

Summary: A high-speed and low-cost electrochemical additive manufacturing method is proposed for parallel microprinting of metals using multicapillary 3D printed solution flow type microdroplet cells (Sf-MDC). The independent control of solutions inside each capillary enables the simultaneous formation of different metal microstructures without cross-mixing. This method allows for the fabrication of free-standing 3D structures such as Ni microrods, expanding the possibilities for a wide range of applications.

Summary: The study demonstrates that blocking P2X7 channel can attenuate the inflammatory response in brain diseases. The newly developed P2X7-specific nanobodies effectively target this channel. Intracerebroventricular injection of P2X7-specific nanobodies reduces the size of stroke.

Summary: Based on the microchip electrophoresis chemiluminescence detection platform, an ultrasensitive method was developed for the detection of microRNA-141 by using a triple-cycle cascade chemiluminescence signal amplification strategy. This method showed excellent specificity and a very low detection limit for miRNA-141 assay. It has important applications in clinical diagnostics and biomedical research of miRNAs.
