Here we report a simple method, in which Ni nanoparticles act as seeds and reducing agent for the formation of PtNi branches, to synthesize graphene supported PtNi nanodendrites. The as-prepared nanodendritic PtNi catalyst shows very large electrochemical active surface area and extremely high activity and stability for methanol oxidation. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V.
