Summary: This study systematically assessed the early detection rate of biochemical prostate cancer recurrence using choline, fluciclovine, and PSMA. The results showed that the detection rates of PSMA-radiotracers were greater than those of choline-radiotracers and fluciclovine-radiotracers at the patient level, especially with F-18-labeled PSMA.

Summary: This study conducted a diagnostic meta-analysis to evaluate the performance of [F-18]FDG PET/MR in M staging of [F-18]FDG-avid cancer entities. The results showed that [F-18]FDG PET/MR is highly accurate in detecting distant metastasis and has high sensitivity and specificity in various malignancy types. These findings provide clinicians and patients with confidence in the performance of [F-18]FDG PET/MR in clinical practice.

Summary: A study compared the detection rate of different radiotracers for recurrent prostate cancer, revealing similar performance among PSMA radiotracers except for 18F-PSMA-1007, which showed clear superiority over choline tracers. The majority of studies were found to have risk of publication bias, indicating a need for more robust evidence synthesis in guiding evidence-based decisions in radiotracer selection.

Summary: This study summarized the diagnostic role of PET/MRI in patients with prostate cancer. The results showed that PET/MRI has high sensitivity for detecting primary PCa, especially when radiolabeled PSMA is used, and also has a high detection rate for recurrent disease.

Summary: [18F]FDG-PET/CT scanning can effectively diagnose polymyalgia rheumatica by identifying significant uptake of FDG at specific anatomic sites. The technique shows promise as an important diagnostic tool for patients with suspected PMR, but standardized interpretation criteria and procedural recommendations are necessary for its use.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of FAP-targeted PET imaging in different subtypes of gastric cancer (GC) through a systematic review and meta-analysis. The quantitative data provided promising results, with high detection rates for primary tumor and distant metastases, as well as good sensitivity and specificity for regional lymph node metastases. However, more prospective multicentric studies are needed to confirm these excellent performances of FAP-targeted PET in GC patients.

Summary: This study conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic value of PET in anal canal cancer patients. The results showed that PET had high sensitivity and specificity in distinguishing T3/T4 stages and detecting metastatic disease. PET also showed good sensitivity and specificity in therapy response assessment. Furthermore, pre-treatment total metabolic tumour volume was found to be predictive of survival, and complete metabolic response was associated with better prognosis. Overall, PET may be a valuable tool in therapy planning and prognostic assessment for anal canal cancer.

Summary: Breast cancer is a major cause of death among women, but the heterogeneity of the disease makes it challenging to identify valuable biomarkers and optimal treatment approaches. Radiomics and artificial intelligence have shown promise in detecting previously unseen features in medical images of breast cancer, aiding in staging, prognosis, and biological assessment. However, larger prospective trials are needed to confirm and standardize the application of these new techniques in breast cancer.

Summary: PET has moderate diagnostic accuracy in differentiating between true glioma progression (TPR) and post treatment-related change (PTRC). Amino acid PET shows high sensitivity while FDG-PET demonstrates high specificity. Combining commonly used FET-PET and FDG-PET may provide more accurate results, especially for low-grade gliomas.

Summary: In this study, a pooled analysis was performed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) for periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) of the hip. The results showed that PET/CT has a high level of sensitivity and specificity for diagnosing PJI of the hip. Further large-scale research is needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: Monitoring disease activity in patients with large vessel vasculitis (LVV) using [18F]FDG-PET/CT shows potential value, but is affected by significant heterogeneity. Arterial [18F]FDG uptake correlates with clinical remission, but the accuracy for detecting active LVV remains limited.

Summary: This meta-analysis evaluated the methodological quality and clinical value of PET imaging in distinguishing glioma pseudoprogression from true progression. The results show that PET imaging is generally accurate in identifying glioma PsP, with 18F-FET PET having the highest clinical value. The TBRmax and TBRmean parameters are reliable in 18F-FET studies.

Summary: The research explores the implications of the first histology-independent marketing authorization in Europe on National Institute for Health and Care Excellence appraisals. Methods include targeted reviews and the development of a decision framework. Challenges identified include heterogeneity in treatment effects and the use of surrogate endpoints. Bayesian hierarchical methods and a surrogate based modeling approach may be useful for evaluating this heterogeneity. Further research is needed to address the challenges in uncontrolled Phase II studies and apportioning genomic testing costs.

Summary: This study estimated lifetime costs associated with ten antipsychotic medications in seven European countries and found that lurasidone had the lowest costs and rates of cardiovascular and metabolic adverse events for patients initiating acute treatment, with ziprasidone as the second lowest cost option. Similar trends were observed for patients initiating maintenance treatment. The main drivers of cost differences were rates of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, with lurasidone showing the lowest rates of these events.

Summary: Ovarian transposition is an established method for protecting the ovaries from radiation, while surgical procedures for protecting the uterus are still under investigation. This study conducted a systematic review of uterine displacement techniques and performed dose simulation to assess the radiation dose received by the uterus. Summary: The Italian Research Group for Gastric Cancer developed a prospective database to evaluate the impact of a pragmatic attitude on the management of stage IV gastric cancer patients. The study found that different metastatic sites did not affect survival rates, but multiple metastatic sites were associated with worse survival. Patients who could undergo curative resection had better survival rates. A more accurate diagnostic workup and staging had a favorable impact on survival.

Summary: This study evaluated the outcome of tonsillar cancer managed with neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgery.
