Summary: The aim of our study was to evaluate the differences among different groups of drug users, focusing on hematological, biochemical, urinary, and cardiological aspects. A retrospective study was conducted on 2572 hospitalized patients in Bucharest, Romania from 2015 to 2021. The study group was characterized based on demographic data, personal history/co-morbidities, consumption history, and substitution treatment. The analysis of medical records revealed correlations between GGT levels and alcohol intake as well as contagious diseases, a decrease in MCH and MCHC levels across the entire study group, and correlations between specific cardiological events and certain substance groups. The study provides important information on different types of drug users and supports future research on the chemical structures of consumed compounds.

Summary: Cyclic thrombocytopenia (CTP) is a disease characterized by periodic platelet oscillation with substantial amplitude. Most CTP cases are misdiagnosed as immune thrombocytopenia, and this study provides a framework for understanding the pathophysiology and proposes a new model for the etiology of CTP. The findings offer opportunities for targeted therapeutic approaches in the future.

Summary: Low-grade serous ovarian cancer, initially rare and distinct, has recently seen advancements in treatment due to increased understanding of its clinical behavior and molecular profile. Next-generation sequencing has uncovered the molecular drivers of the disease, including alterations in mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway genes like KRAS and BRAF, impacting prognosis and behavior. Targeted therapies, such as MEK and BRAF inhibitors, have evolved the treatment approach, while endocrine therapy and CDK 4/6 inhibitors have shown promising results in combination therapy. Recognizing the unique features of this previously chemo-resistant cancer has opened new treatment possibilities for patients.

Summary: This study explores the spectroelectrochemical response of synthetic cathinones using cyclic voltammetry and Raman spectroscopy for the first time. The proposed method allows for rapid and reliable determination of these substances, making it applicable for forensic analysis of real drug samples and spiked synthetic urine.

Summary: This study examined drug-related deaths in the UK involving novel psychoactive substances (NPS) and compared female deaths with male deaths. The proportion of male NPS deaths was significantly higher than that for females, but gender differences were less relevant in NPS deaths compared to other drug-related deaths. Older women using NPS were more likely to have additional drugs implicated and a history of drug misuse. These findings suggest that age and behavioral differences may be more important factors in NPS deaths than gender.

Summary: This study examines the stability boundaries of diatomic bonds, which are found to correlate with topological descriptors of electron density fields. By utilizing chemical databases and quantum-mechanical calculations, a comprehensive analysis of diatomic bonds in the s-p main block of atoms was conducted, with a focus on the impact of substituents in C-C covalent bonds.

Summary: Product acquisition policies define legal markets, but policy evaluations often lack prevalence data. This study introduces Legal Firearm Prevalence (LFP) as a direct behavioral measure and suggests using firearm acquisitions as the most reliable proxy for LFP. The findings emphasize the importance of using valid proxies to avoid false research conclusions. The study recommends systematic collection and reporting of firearm acquisition data to enhance firearm research and inform policy-making.

Summary: In China's rapidly growing marine industry, marine ecological compensation is crucial for protecting the marine environment. However, there are several deficiencies in China's marine ecological compensation legal system, including a shortage of institutional supply leading to lack of coordination, absence of the legislative concept of 'land-sea overall planning', limited scope, lack of clear standards, complex relationship with marine planning, and insufficient regulation.

Summary: Multiteam system research suggests that hierarchical structures are preferable for multiteam systems, but we argue that hierarchy both facilitates and hinders multiteam system success. Through experimental studies and observations, we find that structural hierarchy helps with multiteam system learning by reducing cognitive depletion, but it also undermines learning through negative effects on horizontal coordination. Importantly, the benefits of hierarchy decrease over performance episodes.

Summary: In this paper, MOSTA, a novel unsupervised method for the automated identification of legal judgments with similar characteristics, is proposed. MOSTA learns two different embedding models for legal judgments and fuses them through a multi-view approach based on an autoencoder. The obtained representation is then used by a novel overlapping clustering algorithm. Experimental results demonstrate that MOSTA provides a positive contribution to the quality of identified clusters and outperforms existing complete solutions based on BERT embedding models and overlapping clustering algorithms.

Summary: In this paper, a novel supervised neural sequence tagging model is proposed for extracting catchphrases from legal case documents. It is shown that incorporating document-specific information with a sequence tagging model can enhance the performance of catchphrase extraction. Through experiments on a set of Indian Supreme Court case documents, the proposed method is empirically shown to be superior to all baselines in performance.
