Summary: This study developed a lactobionic acid-based gene delivery nanosystem to downregulate c-MYC expression and sensitize tumor cells to sorafenib. The nanocarriers prepared with PAMA114-co-PLAMA20 glycopolymer showed the most efficient gene delivery. Silencing c-MYC increased the sensitivity of HCC cells to sorafenib, demonstrating the potential of PAMA114-co-PLAMA20/MYC shRNA nanosystems combined with low doses of sorafenib for HCC treatment.

Summary: Despite the challenges of off-target side effects and pharmacokinetics, recent targeting strategies have revitalized MMP research by introducing new s-triazine-based dendrimers with intrinsic MMP-2/9 inhibitory potential for targeted therapy against hepatocellular carcinoma. Preliminary screening showed promising potency against MMP-2/9 within safe doses, with hydrazide dendrimers being comparable to NNGH and superior to the carboxylic acid analogue, while conjugates of these dendrimers with anticancer agents exhibited enhanced potency in cancer cells, making them potential candidates for targeted cancer therapy.

Summary: This study developed sorafenib-loaded albumin lipid nanoparticles (ALNs) for targeted drug delivery in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The ALNs, consisting of medium-chain triglycerides and lactobionic acid-human serum albumin conjugate (LA-HSA conjugate), showed enhanced cytotoxicity and cellular uptake in HepG2 cells compared to untargeted ALNs. Overall, the targeted ALNs can improve the therapeutic efficacy of sorafenib in HCC.

Summary: The expression level of GFR alpha 1 in HCC tissue is inversely correlated with the prognosis of patients. Silencing of GFR alpha 1 enhances HCC cell growth and metastasis, while forced expression of GFR alpha 1 reverses tumor-promoting effects. Additionally, GFR alpha 1 deficiency promotes HCC progression but enhances chemotherapeutic efficacy, making it a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target.

Summary: This study aims to explore the antibacterial activity and mechanism of lactobionic acid (LBA) on spoilage bacteria Shewanella baltica and Shewanella putrefaciens. The results demonstrated that LBA effectively inhibited the growth of both Shewanella species, damaging cell membrane integrity and increasing outer membrane permeability. LBA also interacted with bacterial DNA, leading to cell dysfunction. Moreover, LBA showed inhibitory effects on microbial growth, melanosis, and lipid oxidation in refrigerated shrimp.
