Hypnosis has a special place in palliative care because it allows both an immediate and delayed perception of changes that take place on the cognitive, emotional and behavioural levels. Therapy mainly focuses on control and active participation. We present a clinical case that demonstrates how hypnosis can be used, with an emphasis on the use of metaphors.
