Summary: A nomogram was developed to predict lymph node metastasis for patients with early-stage esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, which was validated by an independent cohort. The study confirms the accuracy of the nomogram in predicting the risk of lymph node metastasis for these patients.

Summary: The presence of supraclavicular lymph node metastasis did not significantly impact the overall survival of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients who underwent 3-field lymph node dissection, regardless of clinical suspicion or pathologic confirmation.

Summary: This study found that the distance between the lower tumor margin and esophagogastric junction is associated with the risk of abdominal lymph node metastasis in patients with esophageal cancer, providing guidance for surgeons in preoperative risk assessment and lymph node dissection.

Summary: This study found that peritumoral accumulation of CD16b-positive neutrophils is strongly correlated with lymph node metastasis in thoracic esophageal squamous cell cancer and is an independent predictive factor.

Summary: Lung cancer has high morbidity and mortality rates, with tumor metastasis being a significant risk factor for death. Even after complete removal of a tumor at an early stage, there is still a risk of recurrence. Lymph node micrometastasis has been found to be associated with poor prognosis, but predicting prognosis and choosing the appropriate surgical and postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy options remain challenging for clinicians.

Summary: This study investigates the performance of machine learning models in predicting lymph node metastasis (LNM) in patients with T1-T2 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The study finds that ML models provide good predictive value for LNM in these patients, with the naive Bayes algorithm and determination coefficient for feature selection performing the best.

Summary: This retrospective study analyzed the impact of solitary mediastinal and solitary celiac lymph node metastasis on the prognosis of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The results showed that solitary celiac lymph node metastasis had better long-term survival compared to solitary mediastinal lymph node metastasis in esophagectomy.

Summary: The study evaluated the relationship between deep inguinal lymph node metastasis and pelvic lymph node metastasis in PSCC, finding that deep ILNM is the most accurate factor for predicting PLNM. Patients with deep ILNM should be referred for pelvic lymph node dissection, as it indicates poor prognosis.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the prognosis of lymph node metastasis (LNM) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and propose a novel N (nN) staging system. It was found that paradigestive LNM was associated with worse overall survival (OS) compared to pararespiratory LNM. The nN staging system showed superior prognostic ability than current N staging systems.

Summary: This study aimed to predict the lymph node status and survival of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma before treatment using PET-CT-related parameters. A total of 311 patients were included and a predictive model was constructed based on the training and test sets. The model accurately predicts the risk of lymph node metastasis and the patient's 5-year overall survival in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Summary: This study investigates the value of radiomics models based on CT in accurately predicting lymph node metastasis in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. The models constructed using radiomics features and clinical factors showed improved prediction performance compared to the clinical model based on tumor size criteria. The radiomics model based on non-contrast-enhanced CT images could be a reasonable option due to its lower cost and availability for patients with renal failure or allergies.

Summary: This study showed that about 50% of patients diagnosed with LN metastasis before treatment were downstaged by NCRT, with relatively good prognoses. However, LN metastases were extensive in cervical, mediastinal, and abdominal areas, even within the radiation field. Therefore, systematic and adequate lymphadenectomy is required for ESCC patients treated with NCRT.

Summary: Tumor size, location, macroscopic type, T1 substage, differentiation, and lymphovascular invasion are significant risk factors for lymph node metastasis in patients with T1 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, while sex, age, and infiltrative growth pattern are not identified as such.

Summary: NACRT followed by esophagectomy with three-field lymph node dissection is feasible and offers the potential for long-term survival of clinical Stage III patients and even clinical Stage IVB patients with supraclavicular LN metastasis as the only distant metastatic factor. At least in patients with upper and middle thoracic ESCC, treating supraclavicular LNs as regional LNs seems to be appropriate.
