Pyogenic liver abscess associated with Klebsiella oxytoca: Mimicking invasive liver abscess syndrome

Summary: We report a case of invasive liver abscess syndrome (ILAS) caused by Klebsiella oxytoca, in a patient with poorly controlled diabetes mellitus. This case highlights the importance of screening for systemic metastatic infection in patients with pyogenic liver abscess (PLA), especially those with poorly controlled diabetes.

Diff-Quik: A reliable stain for rapid onsite evaluation and differentiation of round cells in semen

Summary: In this study, Diff-Quik and Papanicolaou staining methods were used to differentiate between immature germ cells and leukocytes in semen. There was good concordance between the two staining methods in detecting inflammatory cells and immature germ cells. There was an inverse relationship between total sperm count and the presence of immature germ cells.
