Summary: This study aimed to update the association between multivitamin supplementation and mortality in a population with esophageal squamous dysplasia in China. The results showed that multivitamin supplementation was not associated with total mortality during the 35-year follow-up, but may reduce the risk of heart disease and cerebrovascular disease mortality in certain subgroups, as well as the risk of esophageal/gastric cardia cancer mortality.

Summary: In chronic hemodialysis patients, diabetes mellitus, history of coronary intervention, and hypoalbuminemia were significant risk factors for mortality during the entire follow-up period. Different risk factors were identified for mortality during early follow-up period (<= 3 years) compared to those who survived for longer than 3 years.

Summary: There is insufficient evidence on the impact of abdominal obesity on mortality in older adults. This study aimed to analyze the 10-year impact of abdominal obesity on all-cause, cardiovascular disease, and cancer mortality in older adults using different diagnostic criteria. The study found that an increased waist-to-hip ratio was associated with a higher risk of all-cause mortality, while an increased waist circumference was a risk factor for higher cardiovascular disease mortality in older adults.

Summary: This population-based cohort study found a 16% decreased risk of hypertension for every 100 mg increase in dietary choline intake, but no significant association was observed between dietary betaine intake and hypertension risk. Additionally, the protective effect of dietary choline against hypertension varied slightly among different age and sex groups.

Summary: The prevalence of multimorbidity among the elderly in China has been increasing from 1998 to 2018, with a particular focus on the rapid growth in the southern part of the country. Hypertension is the most prevalent chronic condition, while diabetes is most likely to coexist with other chronic conditions. The gap in multimorbidity prevalence between the northern and southern regions has been narrowing over the past two decades.
