Summary: The authors developed a multifunctional nanoenzyme-chitosan hydrogel complex to improve the microenvironment of diabetic wounds and provide continuous oxygen delivery. By reducing glucose and reactive oxygen species concentrations and promoting cell proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis, the complex significantly accelerated diabetic wound healing.

Summary: The goal of this overview was to gather and evaluate the data on the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for treating diabetic foot ulcers. The included reviews and meta-analyses had low methodological quality and unsatisfactory reporting. There was a lack of high-quality evidence supporting the role of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for diabetic foot ulcers.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy and chemokine administration-a combination with potential therapeutic value for treating diabetic wounds

Summary: Non-healing wounds are a serious problem for diabetic patients, particularly foot ulcers, which increase the risk of limb amputation due to impaired cell signaling. Altered expression of chemokines in diabetes delays the recruitment of various cell types to the wound site, impairing wound healing processes. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is currently prescribed for diabetic wounds, but the associated morbidity risk needs to be addressed through further research. Modulating pro-angiogenic chemokines may enhance wound healing in diabetic patients.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Reduces Oxidative Stress and Inflammation, and Increases Growth Factors Favouring the Healing Process of Diabetic Wounds

Summary: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is clinically used to apply oxygen at pressures higher than atmospheric pressure. This study aimed to analyze the effects of HBOT on plasma oxidative and inflammation biomarkers and growth factors in patients with chronic diabetic wounds. The results showed that HBOT reduced oxidative and pro-inflammatory mediators, and increased the release of growth factors, potentially playing a role in wound healing, angiogenesis, and vascular tone regulation.

Effect of hyperbaric oxygen treatment on diabetic foot ulcers: A meta-analysis

Summary: This meta-analysis aimed to assess the effect of hyperbaric oxygen treatment on diabetic foot ulcers. The results showed that hyperbaric oxygen treatment had significantly higher rates of healed ulcers, adverse events, and ulcer area reduction, as well as lower mortality, compared to standard treatment. However, there was no significant difference in amputation and healing time between the two treatments. It is important to note that the selected studies had small sample sizes and limited comparisons.

Current Therapeutic Modalities for the Management of Chronic Diabetic Wounds of the Foot

Summary: Impaired wound healing is common in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Different therapeutic modalities are used in the management of chronic diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), including wound debridement and dressing, TENS, nanomedicine, shockwave therapy, HBOT, TOT, and PBM. Effective wound care is critical for the management of chronic diabetic wounds, and the selection of treatment methods depends on the patient's physiological status and wound characteristics.

Adjuvant Therapy for Renal Cell Carcinoma: Hype or Hope?

Summary: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the third most common genitourinary cancer and has significant mortality rates. Adjuvant therapy has been explored, but the results for both tyrosine kinase inhibitors and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have been conflicting. Biomarker identification and subgroup analyses are needed to determine which patients can benefit from adjuvant therapy. This review discusses the rationale for adjuvant treatment in RCC and summarizes the current trials and future directions.

Physical Treatment of Diabetic Foot Ulcers-Preliminary Study for Topical Application of Oxygen or Ozone Auxiliary Treatment of Diabetic Foot Ulcers

Summary: Diabetes mellitus is a common metabolic disease, and one of its most serious complications is diabetic foot ulcer (DFU). This study aimed to compare the efficacy of topical oxygen therapy and topical ozone therapy for the treatment of DFU and calculate the financial costs of both methods. The study included 85 patients with hard-to-heal diabetic foot ulcers, and the results showed that both topical oxygen therapy and topical ozone therapy significantly reduced ulcer area and pain intensity. Both methods were considered cost-effective due to their moderate cost.
