Summary: Zebrafish is a valuable model organism for studying melanocyte biology. This study investigates the role of the Wnt signaling pathway in zebrafish melanocyte development and patterning. The results show that Wnt enhancer stimulates melanocyte development, while Wnt inhibitor results in low melanocyte densities and defects in phenotype and patterning. The study highlights the crucial role of Wnt signaling in melanocyte lineage and the importance of balanced Wnt signaling for proper melanocyte development and patterning.

Summary: Zebrafish, as a model organism, is valuable for studying the Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome (HPS), a syndromic albinism disorder. In this study, a novel HPS10 zebrafish model called crasher was described. The crasher mutants exhibited overexpression of exon 14 of the ap3d1 gene and reduced overall expression of ap3d1. Knockout of ap3d1 in *AB zebrafish replicated the crasher phenotype. Furthermore, the loss-of-function mutations in ap3d1 caused significant expression changes in melanogenesis genes and autophagy pathway genes. The findings suggest that ap3d1 plays a role in melanophore survival by regulating autophagy.
