Summary: This study tested the efficacy and mechanism of an app-delivered Mindfulness Training for Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), demonstrating its clinical efficacy in reducing anxiety with significant results. Increased mindfulness at 1 month was found to mediate decreases in worry at 2 months, and decreases in worry at 1 month mediated reductions in anxiety at 2 months. This highlights the potential of digital therapeutics in improving health outcomes for individuals with anxiety at a low cost.

Summary: The study found that patients with Generalized Anxiety Disorder experienced significant symptom reduction after six weeks of Swedish Massage Therapy twice a week, with no additional benefit observed in the following six weeks. Preliminary findings suggest that six weeks of therapy may be sufficient for the majority of patients, as the most benefit occurred in the initial six weeks.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the impact of kava treatment on gene expression related to anxiety and investigate whether gene expression affects the efficacy of kava treatment. The results showed that kava decreased the expression of GABRR2 and COMT, genes associated with anxiety. These findings suggest that kava interacts with the GABAergic and catecholaminergic systems.

Summary: Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Panic Disorder (PD) share similar neurobiological mechanisms and clinical features, leading to potential misdiagnosis and delayed treatment. This study aimed to assess the relationship between clinical and socio-demographic markers and GAD/PD diagnosis. Out of 290 outpatients identified with PD or GAD in mental health services in Italy, post-onset psychiatric and medical comorbidities were associated with GAD, while treatment with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) was associated with PD. GAD patients had a worse prognosis due to higher comorbidity rates, relapses, and poorer treatment compliance. The association between GAD and psychodynamic psychotherapy was a unique finding of this study.
