Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the release of BPA from sealants under different pH conditions. The results showed that low pH had a negative effect on the release of BPA. Therefore, frequent exposure to low pH after sealant treatment may negatively affect the chemical stability of the sealant.

Summary: Incorporating bioactive material into pit and fissure sealant through microcapsules was shown to enhance remineralization process and regaining calcium to demineralized enamel more effectively than fluoride sealants. The formation of distinct white zone at tooth/sealant interface by bioactive sealant suggests its potential in maintaining sound tooth structures and reducing the need for operative procedures to restore cavities on occlusal surfaces.

Summary: In this study, cured thermosetting epoxy resins and glass-fiber-reinforced polymer composite materials were prepared to investigate the differences in optical properties based on the type of amine curing agent used. The results showed that efficient mixing of the amine curing agent can lead to the production of transparent and high-transmittance GFRP.

Summary: This study evaluated the antibacterial, physicochemical, and mechanical properties of pit and fissure sealants containing different weight percentages of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs). The addition of ZnO NPs showed antibacterial activity against S. mutans with no negative effects on the physicochemical and mechanical properties. These sealants can be considered as ideal materials for secondary caries prevention.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of an antibacterial core-shell AgBr/cationic polymer nanocomposite on the properties of a resin-based pit and fissure sealant. The experimental antibacterial sealants containing AgBr/BHPVP showed better bactericidal activity against Streptococcus mutans compared to commercial sealants, with potential for preventing caries.

Summary: In Liaoning, China, children aged 6 to 9 years showed a high prevalence of dental caries. Factors such as parent's education level, frequency of consuming sweet beverages and foods, and children's understanding of caries significantly affected caries prevalence rates. The implementation of PFS application and oral health education effectively reduced the caries rate among the surveyed children.

Summary: Patterned structures in PeLEDs, such as the SiO2-microcolumn pattern, can reduce optical loss and improve the external quantum efficiency. The increase in the number of patterned interfaces contributes to a decrease in optical loss, thanks to the scattering effect and the utilization of waveguide and surface plasmon polariton modes. A PeLED with a five-interface structure based on an SMP substrate demonstrated improved light outcoupling, suggesting a synergistic design for efficient devices with multi-interface patterns.

Summary: The Unruh effect, a fascinating aspect of quantum fields in curved spacetime, remains a challenge for direct experimental detection of Unruh temperature. Gradient optical waveguides are proposed to achieve high effective Unruh temperature, but experimental realization is yet to be reported. This study uses a tapered fiber to simulate accelerated motion and obtains effective Unruh temperature, showing a dependence of leaky radiation on photon acceleration.

Summary: This 3-year clinical trial compared the clinical survival of a Bis-GMA-free pit and fissure sealant (Helioseal F Plus) to a control material (Helioseal F). The results showed that the new sealant material was at least equivalent to the previous material in terms of survival and retention behavior.

Summary: The incorporation of nano-hydroxyapatite (nanoHAP) into pit and fissure sealant improved its penetration and adaptation properties as well as fluoride release. The nanoHAP group showed significantly more samples with no bubbles and no debris, and had significantly higher fluoride release compared to the conventional sealant.
