Summary: This review article focuses on the synthesis of sugar-modified nucleosides, covering methods such as constructing the nucleoside ring from different starting materials, coupling different nucleobases in a stereoselective manner, and separating enantiomers of the nucleosides. Both chemical and enzymatic procedures are reviewed and categorized for effective synthesis of these nucleoside analogues.

Summary: This study presents the hydrogenative conversion of biobased platform molecules to their corresponding diols using a pre-activated Knolker-type iron catalyst. The catalyst demonstrates high selectivity for ketone reduction without inducing dehydration, and the cis-trans ratio of products can be substantially affected by different ligand substituents. Additionally, the catalytic system shows decent compatibility with various structurally related substrates.

Summary: The transformation of N-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazoles via insertion/rearrangement has been achieved using specific catalysts and suitable reaction conditions. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions, exhibits regio- and stereoselectivity, and has a broad substrate scope. Notably, the prevention of rearrangement allows access to (Z)-olefins, providing a new synthetic methodology.

Summary: Isohexides are a family of bio-based compounds with high structural rigidity, high hydrophilicity, and distinct chirality, making them highly promising for developing novel sustainable polymers. However, the preparation of high-quality polymers remains a challenge due to their insufficient purity, lower reactivity, and limited thermal stability.

Summary: Vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) have high efficiency and excellent durability, but are expensive. Cheap quinone RFBs (QRFBs) using anthraquinone-2,7-disulfonic acid and tiron are introduced as an alternative. However, QRFBs require additional activation process. To address these issues, new RFBs using vanadium and tiron as active materials are suggested. The new RFBs have higher cell voltage and better capacity retention than VRFBs, and bismuth-based catalysts further increase their energy density.

Summary: The reaction of 2-amino-1,3-benzothiazole with different alpha-iodoketones was studied without the use of bases or catalysts. The reaction proceeds by N-alkylation of the nitrogen atom followed by intramolecular dehydrative cyclization. Various iodide and triiodide benzothiazolium salts were synthesized and their structure was confirmed by NMR and UV spectroscopy.
