Summary: Perfectionism is a multidimensional construct with both positive and negative aspects. Appearance-oriented perfectionism, associated with body image dissatisfaction and weight and shape control behaviors, has been introduced as a new dimension. The Physical Appearance Perfectionism Scale (PAPS) is a reliable instrument to assess this dimension, maintaining its original factor structure. This perfectionism is associated with general perfectionism, higher body dissatisfaction, and symptoms of Eating Disorders and Muscle Dysmorphia.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the agreement between BMI-based nutritional status and perceived nutritional status and explore the association between weight perception accuracy and weight control practices in the Chilean adult population. The results showed fair agreement between BMI-based and perceived nutritional status in the total sample, with higher accuracy in women, younger respondents, and those with higher education and income. Individuals with overweight or obesity tended to underestimate their nutritional status. Weight loss behaviors were more related to perceived nutritional status rather than BMI-based status in all groups.

Summary: Women have a tendency to overestimate their body size when it comes to passing through gaps or apertures. This study examines how social context influences body image and estimations of passability. The findings suggest that women may engage in different mechanisms when estimating their body size in social versus non-social situations.

Summary: The subjective assessment of one's body and attitudes towards one's body were found to influence levels of perceived stigma, independently of the condition causing the stigma and of the objective appearance of the participant. Body mass was a strong predictor of perceived stigma levels, with obese women perceiving higher levels of stigma than other groups. The severity of psoriasis did not impact perceived stigma, and women with psoriasis assessed their health highest, potentially explaining their lower levels of perceived stigma.

Summary: The study investigates the biases and inaccuracies in body size judgements, particularly among individuals with eating disorders. Two experiments were conducted using a virtual reality integration task to assess the effect of nearby bodies on perceived body size. The findings indicate that surrounding crowd information is integrated when judging body size, but there is no difference in this integration among individuals with different levels of eating disorder symptomatology.

Summary: This study found that replacing sedentary time with moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) is beneficially associated with adiposity and cardiometabolic health markers. Replacing sedentary time with light physical activity is effective in reducing body fat and fasting insulin, and has better predictive effects on triglycerides and apolipoprotein B/A1 ratio. Increasing sleep time, by reducing sedentary time, can lower obesity risk in short sleepers.
