Summary: The molecular arrangement and orientation of tetraphenylethylene (TPE) unit in thin films and aggregates have a strong impact on the energy transfer process and luminescent behaviors. In this study, metal-TPE coordination polymer (CP) ultrathin films are self-assembled at the air-water interfaces, showing aggregate-induced emission (AIE) behaviors. The luminescence of TPEs in CPs and LB films is influenced by the coordination bonding and molecular interactions, which lead to longer emission lifetime and tunable emission wavelengths and colors. Moreover, the Cd-TPE CP LB films exhibit selective sensing to methanol and formic acid in the gas phase.

Summary: In this study, a series of structurally distinct supramolecular assemblies of DPP based on Hamilton receptors (HRs) were designed and synthesized, which exhibited enhanced structural ordering and excitonic couplings through hydrogen bonding. The self-assembly mechanism was investigated using spectroscopy and solid-state IR spectroscopy. The morphology, photophysical and electrochemical properties of the self-assemblies were studied and compared with DPP molecular structures without HRs. The crystal structure analysis revealed slipped stack arrangements and intermolecular coupling between thiophene and lactam rings, leading to interesting optical properties.

Summary: Two bent shaped isomers based on benzo[1,2-b:4,3-b']dithiophene-pyridine have been synthesized, and the position of N-atom on the pyridine unit has significant effects on their self-assembly behavior and photophysical properties. The isomer with N in the para position can form a columnar liquid crystalline phase and emit enhanced yellow light when doped with L-tartaric acid, making it a potential material for WLED and chemosensors for volatile acid-base vapors.

Summary: In this study, a novel supramolecular inclusion-based method using two macrocyclic hosts, CB[7] and CB[8], was applied to facilitate hierarchical assembly of uranyl metallacycles. Two different types of uranyl metallacycle-based complexes with intriguing hierarchical structures were successfully prepared. The results demonstrate the feasibility of supramolecular inclusion for regulating the coordination assembly of uranyl metallacycles.

Summary: This study investigates the molecular and photophysical properties of a spiropyran-containing amphiphilic molecule in organic and aqueous solutions. The results show that the molecule exhibits positive photochromism in organic solvents, but negative photochromism in water. The explanation lies in the stabilization of the merocyanine form in water, which is supported by density functional theory calculations and classical modeling. Molecular dynamics simulations also reveal the self-assembly of merocyanine molecules in water, forming elongated associates with stack-like building blocks.

Summary: A series of perfluoronaphthalene-based donor-acceptor-donor fluorescent dyes were successfully synthesized using a one-step route. The perfluoronaphthalene moiety served as a good electron-accepting aromatic ring with excellent intramolecular charge transfer properties. Replacing the naphthalene ring with perfluoronaphthalene stabilized the energy levels and reduced the energy band gap, leading to a change in the emission color. Among the synthesized dyes, those with diphenylamino groups showed the highest fluorescence quantum yields in solution and film, while the dye with carbazoyl group exhibited the highest fluorescence quantum yield in the crystalline state.

Summary: The sterically demanding carbene ITr was used as a ligand to prepare luminescent copper(I) complexes with a series of pyridine and quinoline derivatives forming linear, bis(coordinated) complexes. These complexes exhibit weak emission in solution, but intense blue to orange luminescence in PMMA films doped with 10%, showcasing triplet excited states or TADF with high radiative rate constants at room temperature.Density functional theory and multireference configuration interaction calculations were performed to explain the photophysics of these complexes, revealing a high density of low-lying electronic states with mixed MLCT, LLCT, and LC character.

Summary: A microwave assisted method was used to synthesize novel pyrido fused imidazo[4,5-c]quinolines. The electronic properties of these compounds were investigated using computational and experimental methods. The solvatochromic effect and solvent effects were studied, and the potential inhibitory activity of these compounds against human casein kinase 2 (CK2) was evaluated. Among the derivatives, the p-nitro phenyl substituted pyrido fused imidazo[4,5-c]quinoline showed promising inhibitory activity against CK2 and could be a potential drug candidate.

Summary: A nano-scale Fe-4(L-2)(4) molecular square architecture was designed by introducing a new Fe(L-1)(2) spin-crossover (SCO) unit into the polynuclear system, and its structure and spin transition behavior were confirmed by various analytical methods. The mononuclear Fe(L-1)(2) exhibited abrupt SCO behavior with a thermal hysteresis width of 4 K, while the tetranuclear Fe-4(L-2)(4) showed gradual spin transition behavior with enlarged thermal hysteresis width and higher spin transition temperature.

Summary: This paper introduces Magnetoactive coordination compounds that exhibit bi- or multistability and serve as molecular switches. Specifically, it focuses on single molecule magnets (SMMs) that show slow relaxation of magnetization based on purely molecular origin. Unlike ferromagnets, SMMs do not require intermolecular interactions for their magnetic bistability, making them attractive for high-density data storage. The paper provides an overview of Co(II) SMMs, emphasizing the relationship between structural features, magnetic anisotropy, and slow relaxation of magnetization in tetra-, penta-, and hexacoordinate complexes.

Summary: Inspired by the signal transduction function of organophosphates, bioactive organophosphates were used as chiral nodes to control the stereoselective assembly of hydrogen-bonded anionic cages. Antibiotics such as phosphonomycin and clindamycin phosphate, antiviral drug tenofovir, and natural product AMP were assembled with an achiral bis-monourea ligand to form quadruple or triple helicates with stereoselectivity. The stereoselectivity could be enhanced by lowering temperature or using stronger-binding cations as templates. Enantioselectivity was achieved when binding chiral quaternary ammonium cations with the chiral anionic cages as hosts.
