Summary: This study conducted a large-scale meta-analysis and subgroup analysis to compare the effect of fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy with that of free-equivalent combination (FEC) therapy on medication adherence. The results showed that FDC significantly improved medication compliance compared to FEC. Subgroup analyses also revealed differences in the impact of FDC on different disease types, evaluation periods, and compliance indicators.

Summary: This study analyzed patterns of antihypertensive drug use among new users in a Southern European population, identifying factors that influence persistence. The results showed that overall persistence with antihypertensive therapy was poor and influenced by sex, age, and type of therapy. Fixed combinations were found to be effective for initial therapy, especially for patients at higher risk of discontinuation.

Summary: A meta-analysis of three primary prevention trials found that fixed dose combination medications have a greater cardiovascular benefit in older individuals, especially when combined with aspirin. The risk of the primary outcome was reduced by 37% in the total population, with larger reductions in the older age groups. Dizziness was the most common adverse effect, more frequent in participants under 65 years old. Aspirin use did not lead to significant bleeding excess.

Summary: This study compared the treatment patterns and clinical outcomes of single-pill fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy and two-pill combination (TPC) therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes using real-world data from South Korea. The results showed that FDC therapy had better medication adherence and was associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular events, particularly stroke, and hospitalization.

Summary: This study compared the effects of fixed-dose combinations (FDCs) and loose-dose combinations (LDCs) on costs and found that FDC therapy increased antidiabetic pharmaceutical spending in the short term but led to significant savings in co-payments from the patient perspective. There were no significant differences in total healthcare costs from the payer perspective.

Summary: The study found that in tertiary hospitals in China, the majority of patients prescribed sac/val are not initiated on the recommended dose nor up-titrated according to drug instruction; however, good persistence with sac/val is observed in the real-world cohort study.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of fixed-dose combinations of metoprolol, telmisartan, and chlorthalidone in patients with hypertension and stable coronary artery disease who did not respond adequately to dual therapy. Results showed that this triple combination therapy was effective and well tolerated in patients who did not respond adequately to dual therapy.

Summary: This study compared blood pressure control and adherence in patients receiving a fixed-dose combination of bisoprolol and aspirin with those taking these two drugs separately. Adherence was assessed through pill counts, patients' diaries, and a medication adherence scale. The fixed-dose combination was associated with excellent adherence and improved blood pressure control. The majority of patients preferred the fixed-dose combination.
