Summary: The prevalence of pachyvessels in the Japanese population was 9.5%, with younger age, shorter axial length, male sex, and smoking being significant risk factors for their presence. These factors were also associated with greater choroidal thickness. This suggests a potential link between smoking and choroidal circulatory disturbance in the Japanese population.

Summary: This study compared retinal and choroidal thickness variations in patients with ocular albinism and healthy control subjects using OCT scans. The results showed that the subfoveal retinal thickness was greater and the choroidal thickness was thinner in the ocular albinism group compared to the controls.

Summary: This study investigated retinal perfusion and choroidal vascular features in Behcet's disease patients without clinical ocular involvement. The results showed that retinal microperfusion deficit was not observed, and choroidal vascularity index (CVI) may be a more robust marker than choroidal thickness (CT) to indicate choroidal perfusion in these patients. A reduced CVI may suggest subclinical ocular involvement and choroidal ischemia in non-ocular Behcet's disease patients.

Summary: Thinner temporal choroidal thickness at age 12 may predict greater 1-year axial elongation in myopic students, while thinner temporal retinal thickness may predict greater 1-year axial elongation in both non-myopic and myopic students.

Summary: We investigated changes in choroidal hemodynamics in preeclampsia and found that subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT) and choroidal vessel densities (CVDs) were higher in patients with retinal change compared to those without retinal change or controls. SFCT and CVD also showed association with blurred vision and vaginal bleeding.

Summary: This study compared the semi-automated quantification of retinal and choroidal biomarkers in optical coherence tomography (OCT) with and without enhanced depth imaging mode (EDI) in patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR) or retinal vein occlusion (RVO) complicated by macular edema. The results showed that the use of EDI mode did not significantly affect the quantification of biomarkers, indicating that both retinal and choroidal biomarkers can be accurately quantified using OCT regardless of the presence of EDI mode.

Summary: This prospective study aimed to evaluate the impact of Visian Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) V4c implantation on retinal and choroidal morphology in patients with high myopia. The study demonstrated that ICL V4c implantation resulted in significant alterations in retinal and choroidal morphology over a 1-year follow-up period. In patients with high myopia, individuals with longer axial length and higher degrees of myopia exhibited more pronounced postoperative changes in the choroid and retina.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the effects of monocular light deprivation on diurnal rhythms in retinal and choroidal thickness. The results showed that the diurnal variation in retinal thickness is influenced by light exposure, while the diurnal variation in choroidal thickness is not affected by short-term light deprivation.

Summary: This study compared choroidal vascularity index (CVI) and subfoveal choroidal thickness (CT) between eyes that had undergone encircling scleral buckling (SB) procedure and unoperated fellow eyes (FE). The results showed that eyes treated with encircling SB had increased choroidal thickness, total choroidal area, luminal area, and stromal area compared to fellow eyes, but there was no significant difference in CVI.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between subfoveal choroidal thickness (SCT) and treatment outcomes of intravitreal aflibercept (IVA) for macular edema (ME) due to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). The results showed that pretreatment choroidal thickening did not affect the therapeutic effect of IVA for BRVO, but cases of treatment-related choroidal thinning were associated with lower ME recurrence rates, suggesting changes in SCT could be a therapeutic indicator for IVA in acute BRVO.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the association between retinal and choroidal thickness and serum and aqueous humor adiponectin concentrations in diabetic retinopathy (DR) patients. The results showed that serum and aqueous humor adiponectin concentrations were positively associated with DR development and progression, and central foveal thickness was correlated with aqueous humor adiponectin concentrations.

It found that advanced ophthalmologic evaluation and assessment of clinical findings can help accurately diagnose papilledema, with a lower margin of error for patients who directly visited the pediatric neurology unit compared to those referred from external centers.

Summary: This study investigated the protective effect of Filgotinib in an endotoxin-induced uveitis model in rats. The results showed that Filgotinib significantly reduced clinical activity and histopathological examination scores, as well as TNF-alpha and IL-6 levels. Therefore, Filgotinib may be an alternative treatment option in preventing the development of noninfectious uveitis.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of injection quadrant switch on intraocular pressure (IOP) in intravitreal aflibercept or ranibizumab applications. The results showed that the amount of vitreous reflux produced in the quadrant where the injection was applied for the first time caused a low-level IOP, while the amount of vitreous reflux formed in the quadrant where repeated injections were applied caused a higher IOP.
