Summary: Loss of FGF signaling leads to defects in salivary gland branching. Disruption of Fgfr1 and Fgfr2 expression in salivary gland epithelial cells reveals their coordinated function in regulating branching. Non-canonical FGF signaling mechanisms involving cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion play a role in salivary gland branching morphogenesis.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of IGF-1 signaling on mitochondrial remodeling during myogenic differentiation, and identifies key mediators of IGF-1-induced mitochondrial biogenesis and mitophagy. IGF-1 signaling stimulates mitochondrial biogenesis by increasing mitochondrial DNA copy number and the expression of related genes. Additionally, IGF-1 treatment significantly enhances mitophagy levels in differentiating myoblasts, contributing to mitochondrial turnover.

Summary: PLEKHG4B plays a crucial role in epithelial cell-cell junction formation by regulating actin remodeling and modulating the activities of Cdc42 and RhoA. Knockdown of PLEKHG4B leads to open junctions and aberrant myosin activity.

Summary: Aerobic exercise has been found to positively influence bone remodeling, and the study aimed to investigate the role of interleukin-6 (IL-6) signaling in bone during exercise. The study showed that IL-6 receptor expression in bones increased with aerobic exercise. However, mice lacking the IL-6 receptor in osteoblasts showed impaired bone mass, remodeling, and formation when subjected to aerobic exercise, indicating the importance of IL-6 signaling in promoting bone turnover during exercise.

Summary: This study reveals the regulatory role of Abl kinase in the process of ommatidial rotation (OR) during Drosophila eye development. Abl kinase acts downstream of Notch pathway in R4 cells to fine-tune OR through its effect on adherens junctions.

Summary: FGF-2 and TGF-beta can regulate LEC behavior, with FGF-2 promoting fiber differentiation and TGF-beta inducing EMT. When used together, central LECs undergo EMT while peripheral LECs favor fiber differentiation. This differential regulation is important in the development of lens pathology.

Summary: Obscurins, encoded by the OBSCN gene, play a critical role in pancreatic cancer progression and metastasis by regulating cytoskeletal remodeling through RhoA activity. Decreased levels of giant obscurins in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas lead to faster cell migration, tumor growth, and metastasis development.

Summary: Partial bladder outlet obstruction (pBOO) can cause bladder remodeling, and this study found that the PI3K-AKT-mTOR signaling pathway plays a key role in regulating cytoskeletal remodeling and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in bladder tissues. PI3K inhibitors partially reversed EMT and cytoskeletal damage.

Summary: Persistent HR-HPV infection is a major risk factor for cervical cancer, but therapeutic approaches are limited. 25HC has inhibitory effects on various viruses and has potential as an intervention against HPV infection. In this study, the anti-HPV efficacy of 25HC was evaluated using different HPV pseudoviruses in cell and mouse models. The mechanisms behind its inhibitory effects were investigated, revealing that 25HC perturbs F-actin rearrangement by reducing small GTPase prenylation, leading to failed infection.

Summary: In this study, it was found that mechanical stretch promoted F-actin polymerization, increased the number and size of focal adhesions, and stimulated the activation of the Rho-associated protein kinase (ROCK) in human TM cells. The activation of both TRPV4 and ROCK were required for zyxin translocation and an increase in the number/size of focal adhesions in stretched cells. These results reveal the complex signaling pathways involved in the mechanical tuning of TM cells.

Summary: The aberrant expression of Stratifin (SFN) is intricately associated with the initiation and progression of cervical cancer. SFN regulates the metastasis of cervical cancer cells through the LIMK2/Cofilin signaling pathway, controlling proliferation, apoptosis, cytoskeletal remodeling, and metastasis.
