A microporous bio-MOF [Cu(ade)(OAc)]center dot xH(2)O center dot yHOAc (1, ade = adeninate) is obtained quantitatively by the HOAc or water vapour-assisted aging of adenine and Cu(OAc)(2)center dot H2O for 30 minutes or 12 hours at room temperature. It can also be produced efficiently by liquid-assisted grinding for 1 minute in the presence of small amounts of water.
