Highly dispersed FeCO3-Fe3O4 nanoparticles with uniform diameters (similar to 30 nm) and flower-like assemblies (100-150 nm) were prepared by a one-step hydrothermal method. The prepared FeCO3-Fe3O4 composites show good thermal stability, magnetic responsiveness and good adsorption behavior for methylene blue trihydrate in water treatment.
