The versatile host framework, synthesized from Cd(ClO4)(2) and benzene-1,3,5-triyhriisonicotinate, has been examined as a potential adsorbent for polycydic-aromatic hydrocarbon molecules and exhibits adsorptive selectivity based on the shape/size of the molecule in a single-crystal-to-single-crystal manner. The framework also shows the ability to capture I-2 either from its solution or in vapor form.
