Summary: Three polymorphic structures of mefenamic acid were studied using quantum chemical methods. It was found that a centrosymmetric dimer formed by two hydrogen bonds is present in all of the polymorphic structures. Analysis of the interaction energies revealed that polymorphic forms I and II are columnar-layered while form III has a columnar structure. The stabilities of the three polymorphic forms correlate with the degree of anisotropy of the interaction energies between columns.

Summary: A pair of carboxy-cyclobutane isomers were synthesized stereoselectively using a method that combined reversible amide bond formation and self-assembly of coordination polymers via solid-state photo-chemical [2 + 2] cycloaddition reactions. The synthesis involved constructing pyridine-amide ligands, self-assembling metal ions and auxiliary ligands for photo-dimerization, and hydrolyzing the derivatives to obtain the carboxy-cyclobutane isomers. Stereoselective synthesis was achieved by regulating the reaction site of [2 + 2] cycloaddition through the introduction of a substituent group in the auxiliary ligand.

Summary: Three cis-MoO2 complexes with different auxiliary coordination sites were synthesized and characterized. Hydrogen bonding interaction led to the formation of two-dimensional or three-dimensional supramolecular structures. Energy calculations revealed one of the complexes to be more stable, while the aroylhydrazone showed free radical scavenging activity.

Summary: The study investigated the catalytic activity of dinuclear and mononuclear molybdenum(VI) complexes with aroylhydrazonato ligands in the epoxidation of cyclooctene and oct-1-ene. Different isomers of aroylhydrazones led to specific [MoO2L] units with varying catalytic activity, with TBHP in decane providing outstanding results for cyclooctene epoxidation. DFT calculations confirmed the relationship between ligand nature and reactivity with oxidant agents TBHP and H2O2, proposing a plausible mechanism with H2O2 after considering various pathways.

Summary: A series of N-substituted quaternary salts of cinchonidine were prepared and evaluated for their antimicrobial activity, showing good potential against a diverse panel of bacteria. By establishing an activity/potential energy surface model, accurate predictions of activity for new compounds can be made based solely on their potential energy surfaces, facilitating the search for new potential antibiotics.

Summary: This study investigated the propensity of 4-hydroxybenzhydrazone-related ligands derived from 3-methoxysalicylaldehyde, 4-methoxysalicylaldehyde, and salicylaldehyde to act as chelating and/or bridging ligands in Ni(II) complexes. Different clusters with various nuclearities were prepared and characterized. The ligands in these clusters acted as singly or doubly deprotonated ligands. The stability and substituent effects of square-planar complexes were studied and quantified. The crystal and molecular structures of several complexes were determined.

Summary: Seven different nuclearities of tetraammineoxalatocobalt(III) salts with oxomolybdate anions were successfully isolated using a one-pot reaction method, confirming that carboxylic acids act as both ligands and structure-directing agents. The polyoxomolybdate anions were built from various units depending on the carboxylic acid additive used during synthesis, and the products were characterized using a variety of analytical techniques.
