Summary: The initial evaluation of MOF entanglements as their main limitation is changing to an opportunity since the related benefits are now known. Four divalent metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with various entangled structures have been reported, all sharing a square net layer and further extending and interlocking in different ways based on the conformations and roles of flexible ligands and ligand-ligand or ligand-solvent interactions. The photoluminescence properties of the products were compared with those of free ligands and discussed.

Summary: This article describes a series of new rhenium (I) tricarbonyl complexes [Re (CO) (3) (N-N) Br] containing sulfur-bridged dipyridyl ligands with three different oxidation states (sulfide (S), sulfoxide (SO), and sulfone (SO2)). Spectroscopic studies show that changing the oxidation state of the ligands affects the photophysical properties of the complexes, with complexes 3 and 6 containing the sulfone ligand exhibiting a lower energy MLCT absorption band extending into the visible region. Solution-state emission measurements show that these complexes exhibit easily tunable emission energies ranging from 480 to 610 nm, depending on the oxidation state of the sulfur bridge and the presence of substituents on the pyridyl rings. Solid-state emission measurements show that the emission is significantly red-shifted upon oxidation of the sulfur bridge to sulfone with enhanced photoluminescence quantum yield.

Summary: The photochemical cyclization of 1-(2-iodobenzyl)-pyrrole (IBP) and 1-(2-bromobenzyl)-pyrrole (BBP) to 5H-pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoindol catalyzed by W(CNDipp)6 was studied. The results showed that W(CNDipp)6 could effectively catalyze the cyclization of IBP, and this reaction was not inhibited by the addition of other reagents.

Summary: The reaction between 2,4,6-triaryl-lambda(3)-phosphinine-Cr(CO)(3)-pi-complexes and [Rh(COD)(2)]BF4 results in the formation of unusual diamagnetic Rh-0-dimers, containing two phosphinine-pi-complexes as bridging 2e(-)-ligands to the Rh-2(CO)(2) core. These compounds demonstrate a previously unknown coordination mode for the aromatic 6-membered phosphorus heterocycle.

Summary: This study presents the design and synthesis of a novel organic radical based on a 1,2-dicarbonyl scaffold supported by N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), which exhibits remarkable stability due to the steric and electronic stabilization provided by the two NHC moieties. The radical cations can tolerate various harsh conditions and surpass the stability of triphenylmethyl and TEMPO radicals.

Summary: By utilizing a specific ligand, isolable anionic oxoborane and thioxoborane have been assembled, containing unique B-E groups. Structural characterization and DFT calculations confirmed the presence of terminal doubly bonded B-E groups with only the B=O group being associated with imidazolium via a hydrogen bond.

Summary: Three coordination compounds were synthesized and characterized from the reaction of copper(ii) bromide with the flexible bis-tetrazole organosulfur ligand, 1,2-bis(1-methyl-1H-tetrazole-5-ylthio)ethane (bmtte). Different reaction conditions led to the formation of polymeric 2 & INFIN;Cu2Br4(bmtte) (1), trinuclear [Cu3Br4(bmtte)(2)] (2), and tetranuclear [Cu2Br2(bmtte)](2) (3) compounds with different structures. The thermal stability, aqueous behavior, and reactivity of the compounds were investigated, and a new polymeric compound (8Cu4I4)-Cu-2(bmtte)(2) (4) was prepared through solid-state reaction and microwave irradiation. The redox behavior of the compounds was analyzed by cyclic voltammetry.

Summary: The novel coordination polymer ZnC16 shows a thermal crystal-to-crystal phase transition behavior dominated by disordering/ordering of alkyl chains, resulting in the expansion and shrinkage of distances within the rigid 2D coordination networks. The thermal phase transition induces significant changes in crystal morphology, including reversible macroscopic elongation/shrinkage and irreversible delamination and polycrystal slippage. This research provides a new direction to modulate the dynamic behavior and properties of layered coordination polymers by utilizing the thermally responsive character of flexible alkyl chains.
