Summary: A study was conducted to explore ionic liquids with stimuli-responsiveness based on linkage isomerization, resulting in the synthesis of an ionic liquid containing a cationic half-sandwich thiocyanate complex. The N- and S-coordinated isomers showed small solvatochromic absorption shifts in organic solvents, with different solvent dependencies observed for each isomer.

Summary: The development of novel drug delivery systems with strong antibacterial properties is crucial in response to the increasing resistance to antimicrobial agents. In this study, a pH-responsive cobalt(II)-coordinated assembly containing quercetin and polyacrylic acid is proposed as a drug delivery system. This system releases the model drug in a pH-dependent mode by exploiting the localized acidic environment at the bacterial infection sites under anaerobic conditions. The binding affinities and thermodynamic parameters of the cobalt(II) complexes with quercetin in the presence of polyacrylic acid were investigated, providing essential information for the development of an improved drug delivery system.

Summary: Two new Co(II) coordination compounds were synthesized and characterized, one displaying a 2D layered network while the other exhibited a dinuclear structure. Both complexes showed high pH stabilities in the range from 3 to 12, and could serve as fluorescence probes for detecting various substances with high quenching constants and low detection limits. The fluorescence sensing mechanisms of the two compounds were discussed in detail.
