Summary: The study aimed to explore the factors influencing anhedonia and use them as confounding factors, as well as investigate the correlation between overt aggression and anhedonia during the acute phase of major depressive disorder. The results showed that obsessive-compulsive symptoms and the duration of untreated psychosis were positively associated with aggression, while being female was a protective factor for anhedonia.

Summary: This study confirms the relationship between childhood trauma and suicide risk in Chinese male prisoners, with alexithymia and depressive symptoms mediating the association. Attention should be given to the mental health of prisoners with traumatic experiences and precise interventions should consider the subtypes of childhood trauma.

Summary: Marriage is consistently associated with lower risk for suicidal ideation, particularly among individuals aged <30 years. However, for individuals aged 30 years or older, the first 10 years of marriage are associated with increased risk for suicidal thoughts, highlighting the need for clinical intervention.

Summary: This study found that depressive symptoms are related to rumination and childhood trauma. It is the first study to test the mediating effect of rumination on the relationship between childhood trauma and depressive symptoms in schizophrenia patients. The findings suggest that rigorous assessment and psychosocial interventions of rumination are important in alleviating the influence of childhood trauma on depressive symptoms in schizophrenia patients.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between auditory hallucinations and current suicidal ideation or behavior among patients with schizophrenia. The results showed a strong association between auditory hallucinations and CSIB, independent of depressive symptoms and suicide attempts. Furthermore, there was a small indirect effect of emotional scores on the association between auditory hallucinations and CSIB.

Summary: Suicidal ideation (SI) is common among people with schizophrenia, but it has received less attention than suicide attempts (SA), particularly in the Chinese population. Alexithymia is a well-established risk factor for SI, yet there have been few studies evaluating their relationship in schizophrenia patients. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and clinical correlates of SI and its relationship with alexithymia in Chinese chronic schizophrenia inpatients.

Summary: Cognitive function may be associated with a higher level of suicidality in patients with recent-onset schizophrenia. This study found that suicidal ideation was common among patients, and it was related to younger age and longer duration of untreated psychosis. Patients with suicidal ideation had higher scores in general psychopathology, depression, stress, and hopelessness, and lower scores in subjective well-being and resilience. They also performed better in cognitive tests.

Summary: The study found that relapsed patients with schizophrenia had higher rates of childhood trauma and suicide risk compared to first-episode patients. BMI and emotional neglect were unique predictors for different dimensions of suicide, highlighting their importance in assessing suicide risk in this population.

Summary: This study aimed to create a nomogram model to predict correlates of suicidal attempt in Chinese MDD patients. The results showed that being married and having a higher level of education decreased the risk of SA, while a higher number of episodes of depression increased the risk. The nomogram had good discrimination and calibration capabilities, making it a useful tool for predicting SA risk.

Summary: The impaired glucose metabolism in drug-na & iuml;ve schizophrenia patients is strongly associated with suicidal behavior, suggesting that glucose metabolism abnormalities may be potential biomarkers of suicide in schizophrenia patients. Regular monitoring of glucose metabolism variables is essential for suicide prevention.

Summary: This study explored the differences in emotional memory between adolescents with and without suicidal ideation. The results showed that adolescents with suicidal ideation had more negative emotional valence scores for positive and neutral pictures, and they were less likely to recognize negative pictures. The performance on the cognitive test was closely related to anxiety, depression severity, and intensity of suicidal ideation.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the associations between serum hsCRP and SS levels with SI and found that higher serum hsCRP and lower SS levels were significantly associated with SI in patients with cardio-/cerebrovascular diseases. Lower SS levels were also significantly associated with SI at follow-up. The study suggests that considering SS evaluations with routine serum hsCRP levels might improve the clinical prediction of SI in these patients.

Summary: The study found that perceptions of recovery orientation of service, depressive symptoms, and functioning significantly affected the subjective quality of life of patients with serious mental illness. The differential relationship observed between QOL and domains of RSA in patients with MDD and schizophrenia suggests that targeted interventions meeting the needs of different patient groups may be crucial to improve QOL of patients.

Summary: There is a relationship between sleep and inflammatory factors, and the quality of sleep in MDD patients is associated with specific inflammatory factors. Poor sleep quality is negatively correlated with IL-2 and IL-8 levels, and positively correlated with IL-6, IL-10, CRP, TNF-alpha, CXCL-1, CXCL-2, and IFN-gamma levels.
