Summary: This study investigated the interactions between dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and variants of fatty acid desaturase (FADS), and found that different genotypes have different effects on plasma lipid fatty acid composition and bioactive lipid mediators. These findings suggest the potential for genotype-based recommendations for PUFA consumption, which can have beneficial effects on health.

Variation in Fatty Acids Concentration in Grasses, Legumes, and Forbs in the Allegheny Plateau

Summary: This study examined the fatty acid content in different types of pasture grasses, legumes, and non-leguminous forbs in northeast West Virginia. The research found variations in fatty acid content among different plant species, with forbs having the highest linoleic acid content and grasses and forbs having the highest alpha-linolenic acid content. The study also evaluated the correlation between crude protein concentration and fatty acid concentration, and found that the summer months and the presence of forbs affected the alpha-linolenic acid content. Vegetative growth and leafiness were identified as major factors influencing the fatty acid content in pasture forage.

Synthesis, characterization and application of high sulfur content polymeric materials from fatty acids

Summary: A series of high sulfur content polymers containing different amounts of fatty acids (oleic acid, linoleic acid, and linolenic acid) was successfully synthesized via inverse vulcanization method and their properties were characterized. The effects of double bonds and free alkyl chains on polysulfur copolymers were systematically investigated. The copolymers with carboxylic acid groups showed solubility in organic solvents, processability, and electroactive properties. Furthermore, the potential applications of these copolymers in dye removal and as cathode materials in Li-S battery were demonstrated.

Summary: The ruminant requirements for essential fatty acids (EFAs), particularly linoleic acid (LA) and alphalinolenic acid (ALA), have not been fully determined. Adequate supply of polyunsaturated fatty acids (FAs) can improve immunity and reproduction in transition cows. Previous studies have predicted EFA intake based on animal characteristics and milk EFA secretions. However, individual variations in EFA digestion and metabolism may affect the accuracy of group-level predictions. This study aimed to establish specific equations for predicting individual cow's EFA intake based on the difference between observed and predicted intake.

Poplar glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored lipid transfer proteins respond to osmotic stress by regulating fatty acid biosynthesis

Summary: In this study, we identified 36 PtLTPG genes in the poplar genome and divided them into four subgroups. PtLTPG genes were expressed in various tissues of poplar, but with different expression levels. Most PtLTPG and FA-related genes were induced by abiotic stresses, and their expression patterns were associated with each other. Osmotic stress altered the FA composition.

The customized strains synthesized GLA, DGLA, and ARA with high titers, providing valuable insights into the production of functional co6-PUFAs.

Influence of Nitrogen Nutrition on Fatty Acids in Oilseed Rape (Brassica napus L.)

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of nitrogen nutrition on the content of fatty acids and selected qualitative parameters in winter oilseed rape. The results showed that nitrogen fertilization resulted in a significant increase in linoleic and linolenic acid contents, while causing a significant decrease in oleic acid content.

Summary: ICU is not just a place for critical patient care, but also plays a key role in disaster response. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the potential long-term mental health impacts on survivors of critical illness, with some experiencing symptoms of PTSD. New interventions such as ICU follow-up clinics and psychological support may help prevent long-term consequences.
