Summary: This study explores the therapeutic potential of aloe-emodin (AE) in the treatment of CLP-induced sepsis, demonstrating its ability to mitigate systemic inflammation and regulate the gut microbiota. The study provides novel insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the anti-inflammatory effects of AE.

Summary: This study described the characteristics and effects of a novel small molecule AQP9 inhibitor, RG100204, in a polymicrobial infection model. The results showed that RG100204 could attenuate the cardiac and renal dysfunction caused by sepsis, indicating that AQP9 may be a potential drug target for polymicrobial sepsis.

Summary: The study found that the combined prophylactic and therapeutic use of (R)-ketamine significantly reduced mortality and attenuated systemic inflammation and organ injury induced by sepsis. Therefore, (R)-ketamine could be a potential prophylactic and therapeutic drug for patients prone to sepsis.

Summary: Sepsis is a dysregulated hyperinflammatory disease caused by infection, leading to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. The CLP model is widely used to replicate features of sepsis in humans, providing a useful platform for simulating human sepsis and potentially developing new treatments.

Summary: Activation of CB2 receptors plays a protective role in sepsis by inhibiting pyroptosis and reducing the release of inflammatory mediators. The protective effect depends on the presence of endogenous CB2 receptors.

Summary: The study found that sepsis reduces the expression of adipogenesis-related genes in white adipose tissue while promoting inflammation in adipose tissue. In contrast, sepsis increases inflammation in brown adipose tissue without affecting the expression of thermogenic genes.

Summary: The study showed that a single, low dose of MTX can protect against sepsis-induced lung damage by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines, decreasing infiltration of inflammatory cells in the lung, and regulating adenosine receptor A2aR and metalloproteinases.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine the function of multiple EGF like domains 6 (MEGF6) in sepsis-induced acute lung injury (ALI). Mice were used to investigate the effects of MEGF6 knockdown or overexpression on ALI, and primary peritoneal macrophages were used to confirm its role in vitro. The results showed that elevated levels of MEGF6 were associated with reduced inflammation and oxidative damage in both mouse models and cell cultures.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the effect of menthol against sepsis-induced mortality, acute lung injury (ALI), and acute kidney injury (AKI). Menthol improved survival after sepsis and alleviated the development of ALI and AKI. Additionally, menthol also suppressed inflammation and apoptosis markers, showing its protective role in experimental sepsis.

Summary: This study retrospectively evaluated cases of acute hydrogen cyanamide exposure over the past 6 years at the Tanta Poison Control Center. The results indicate that MODS and SOFA scores are considered excellent predictors of outcomes, with MODS being more accurate, specific, and treatment-independent, while the SOFA score is more suitable for simple cardiovascular function assessment.
