Summary: In this study, TixSiBEA zeolites prepared by a two-step post-synthesis method exhibit high catalytic activity in the liquid-phase Baeyer-Villiger oxidation of cyclohexanone, transforming cyclic ketones into lactones by in situ peracid formation. The highest catalytic activity is observed for Ti2.0SiBEA zeolite, which acts as a bi-functional catalyst with both acidic and redox properties.

Summary: This study reveals the higher activation energy of Baeyer-Villiger oxidation compared to epsilon-caprolactone hydrolysis and the hydrolysis barrier is controlled by the hydrogen bond energy of the reaction medium through kinetic studies and DFT calculations. By developing a microreactor system, the safe and efficient production of epsilon-caprolactone was achieved with a significantly higher yield.

Summary: A new method for the synthesis of oligo(epsilon-caprolactone) (OCL) has been developed, involving the Baeyer-Villiger oxidation of cyclohexanone with peracids and subsequent oligomerization of epsilon-caprolactone. The study determined that higher temperature and longer reaction time favored the formation of OCL. The structure of the oligomers was characterized using various analytical techniques.

Summary: Montmorillonite clay was modified and used as a support for Pd nanoparticles. Pd@CS/AlMn-PM showed better catalytic performance than Pd@PVP/AlMn-PM due to its larger specific area, stronger chelation to Pd species, and better solvent resistance.

Summary: A solvent-free, highly efficient, nonmetallic catalytic system was developed using nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes (NCNTs) as catalyst to synthesize ε-caprolactone (ε-CL) monomer. The NCNTs exhibited significantly higher catalytic activity compared to other carbon catalysts. The presence of oxygen functionalities on the NCNT surface inhibited the activity but unexpectedly increased the efficiency of aldehydes. This study lays the foundation for the industrial application of solvent-free Baeyer-Villiger oxidation catalyzed by nanocarbons.

Summary: This study evaluates the removal of three emerging pollutants, triclosan, 2,6-dichlorophenol, and bisphenol A, from water using Fenton-like and photo-Fenton-like reactions. The catalysts used were montmorillonite (Mt) and aluminum interlayered pillared clays (Al-PILC). The results showed that almost 100% of triclosan and 2,6-dichlorophenol can be removed using Al-PILC based catalysts.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption of chromium ions on Aluminium Pillared Intercalated Clays (Al-PILC) prepared from Bentonites sourced from Peshawar and Samwal in Pakistan. The Al-PILC showed highly efficient adsorption of chromium ions in solution, providing a promising intervention for controlling environmental hazards associated with chromium pollution from the leather industries in the country.
