Summary: A high-performance compound epoxy resin system suitable for wet filament winding was designed with improved properties. Through comparing the curing behavior of thermal and microwave curing composites, it was found that microwave curing exhibited higher curing degree and reaction rate in the early and middle stages. However, in the later stages of curing, the difference between the two methods was minimal.

Summary: Inspired by the double-helicoidal structure of coelacanth fish scales, engineering composite materials with enhanced toughness were designed and fabricated in this study. The double-helicoidal composites exhibited higher dynamic energy absorption and more complex failure modes compared to single-helicoidal counterparts, allowing for greater design flexibility without being sensitive to fiber orientations. Additionally, interlaminar stresses were found to be responsible for delamination in the double-helicoidal composites. These findings contribute to the development of next-generation impact-resistant composite materials.

Summary: This study proposes a facile and effective method to improve the interface of carbon fiber/poly ether ether ketone composites by grafting carbon nanotubes onto hydroxylated boron nitride and preparing sizing agents with polyetherimide. The introduction of the sizing agents provides abundant functional groups, generating hydrogen bonds and pi-pi interaction at the interface, while also improving surface roughness and mechanical interlocking. This method shows great potential for fabricating high-performance CF/PEEK composites.

Summary: This paper investigates the effect of impact damage on the fatigue behavior of CF/PEEK-titanium hybrid laminates. A fatigue life model is proposed to predict the S-N curves of the laminates based on energy dissipation approach. The energy dissipation behavior of the laminates under different experimental conditions is analyzed through post-impact fatigue tests, and the correlation between impact damage and fatigue dissipation energy is determined. The validity of the proposed model is verified through fatigue tests under different stress ratios and impact energy levels.
