Summary: This retrospective study analyzed iatrogenic colorectal perforations from 2004 to 2021, and found that endoscopic therapy is the treatment of choice for most cases. However, only a minority of non-interventional perforations are suitable for endoscopic treatment.

Summary: The European Colonoscopy Quality Investigation (ECQI) Group aims to raise awareness and improve colonoscopy standards across Europe. They analyzed data on procedures conducted in Europe to evaluate the achievement of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) mean withdrawal time target. They also investigated factors associated with withdrawal time, hoping to identify areas for quality improvement.

Summary: This retrospective cohort study found that patients with obstructive colonic tumors were more likely to have advanced tumor stage and moderate to poorly differentiated tumors at diagnosis, with significantly decreased five years overall survival compared to patients with non-obstructive tumors. Increased overall mortality was observed in patients with obstructive tumors throughout follow-up periods. Further prospective studies are needed to confirm these findings and address their implications on patient management.

Summary: The study suggests that in LS carriers, complete colonoscopies with adequate bowel preparation and chromoendoscopy use improve adenoma detection, while surveillance intervals of less than 3 years are associated with a reduction in PCCRC incidence. High-quality colonoscopy surveillance is crucial for preventing CRC in LS.

Summary: This study investigated the efficacy of endoscopic retreatment for residual or recurrent adenoma after endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) of large non-pedunculated colorectal polyps (LNPCPs) of >= 20mm. The results showed that endoscopic retreatment is an effective treatment method, with long-term adenoma remission of over 90%.

Summary: This study compares the incidence and outcome of vessel perforation during thrombectomy between medium vessel occlusion (MeVO) and large vessel occlusion (LVO). It finds that perforation is more frequent in MeVO thrombectomy and is associated with better functional outcomes. Navigation beyond the occlusion site and retraction of stent retriever/aspiration catheter are common procedural steps that lead to perforation.

Summary: Chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) is becoming more prevalent, and postoperative seizure in cSDH patients is associated with several factors, with depressed brain volume being independently associated with such seizures. While no formal recommendation can be made regarding prophylactic use of anti-epileptic drugs, the relative safety of new generation drugs and the negative impact of postoperative seizures on patient outcomes may justify their use in selected cases.

Summary: Snakebite is a major public health problem in many areas, particularly in rural tropics. This study assessed seasonal variation, treatment outcomes, and associated factors among snakebite cases in Denan health center, Ethiopia. Poor treatment outcomes were significantly associated with younger age, longer arrival times, and timing of snakebite. Public health education, case management protocols, and increased accessibility to antivenoms are recommended to reduce mortality and disability related to snakebites.

Summary: The introduction of industrial robots in Germany has led to job displacement in manufacturing, but has also created new job opportunities in the service sector. The impact is mainly felt by young workers entering the labor force. Automation has resulted in more stable employment for existing employees within companies, with new jobs being of higher quality.

Summary: The study investigates the impact of trade exposure on the job biographies of 2.4 million manufacturing workers in Germany, finding that rising export opportunities bring about earnings gains for workers through job and employer switches within the same industry. Highly skilled workers benefit the most, while import shocks negatively affect low-skilled workers, especially those with industry-specific human capital. These shocks also have lasting effects on workers' rents and cause significant trauma during mass layoffs. The results are related to the existing theoretical literature on the labor market effects of trade.
